WASHINGTON - The Pentagon on Friday tried to cast doubt on an account of military equipment shortages mentioned by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, whose campaign team stood by the story.
In a debate with rival Hillary Clinton on Thursday evening, Obama said he had heard from an Army captain who served in Afghanistan and whose unit did not have enough ammunition or vehicles.
Obama said it was easier for the troops to capture weapons from Taliban militants than it was "to get properly equipped by our current commander in chief," President Bush
I find that account pretty hard to imagine," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman told reporters.
"Despite the stress that we readily acknowledge on the force, one of the things that we do is make sure that all of our units and service members that are going into harm's way are properly trained, equipped and with the leadership to be successful," he said.

POS Islamist.
The guy supposedly is out of Ft. Drum, NY. Now why would he be writing to OBAMA when the Senator from NY sits on the Armed Forces Committee?
Have you seen the thread where Senator Warner is going to look into this accusation?
I presume this officer who gave this information did so to help Barak Hussein Obama. By doing so, he is injecting himself into the political campaign. I am sure he wants to stay anonymous...it is a matter of fact, whether you agree or disagree with it, that you DO surrender some of your First Amendment rights when you join the military.
Bringing him up on censure charges in the senate for this slander, right after he takes the nomination from hilldog will be icing on the cake for our side.
I hope so!
Sounds more like an editorial. To investigate the anecdote is to "cast doubt" on the new leader of Hope and Change.
Military equipment shortages have been a big U.S. political issue, particularly in the early years of the Iraq war.
By golly, it is an editorial.
Lame and uncalled for addition to the title. It detracts from your message.
He just finished a rally in Austin. He told the crowd he was ready to report for duty. Newsman called him the “Pied Piper of Politics”.
Why the bogus title about cocaine use? At best, this is sophomoric humor.
If the story about the military is a lie he's probably done for.
I find THIS

to be as bad as anything else that Saddam Obama has done.
If your post were a parade, your lame editorial commentary would be rain.
Wonder if it was a set up. I can’t imagine the military wanting him as C in C ...so
So all any near-homeless loser on the street has to do to gain fame and 10,000 dollars is to turn a video camera on himself talking about having gay sex and drugs with a presidential candidate?
Look, if some actual evidence turns up to back up this Sinclair guy’s story then by all means lets run with it. But until then, it just discredits Republicans if this garbage is what we bring to confront Obama in an election.
Obama has done this in a way which is clever. If the charges turn out to be false, he can say that he didn’t say it was true but that someone told him it was true.
Is there a better equiped military force?
I hope they track down this pouting captain and put him on latrine duty — with equipment shortages.
