When I first heard about the rising phenomenon of Senator Barack Obama, I didn't think too much about it. It is a story that you hear in one form or another every four years: the vibrant new Democrat who appeals to young audiences with lofty rhetoric about empowerment and hope. To be honest, I dismissed the whole thing as another short-lived pop phenomenon for the kiddies to write about in their MySpace pages.
Obviously, Obama's success over the past few weeks forced me to reassess this conclusion. Always willing to admit when I am wrong, I decided to read the press reports and find out what was actually powering Obama towards his party's nomination. Sure enough, there was a common theme in all the media accounts: Obama is winning with his powerful message of optimism.
Unfortunately, the reports were not very clear as to what Obama's optimistic message actually is. Finding out required a few hours downloading YouTube files and playing with my new video editing software. (To be honest, this whole project was mostly an excuse to do the latter.) In the end, though, I think I managed to piece together Obama's inspiring vision of America.
You can see the results of my efforts here. Be warned, however: it's not exactly a "shining city on a hill."
I loved your video. Some of us "got it." Ignore the idiots!!!
Well done.
Funny to watch. Scary that it is really happening. I must have crossed an age barrier, or common sense or something along the way...I cannot for the life of me understand what people see in this guy. Unless the drugs are really that good these days.
I get your point but I'm sick of people who criticize EVERYTHING and in this case either did not watch the video or didn't understand it. They just criticize...and I can't think of a more fitting word to describe them than idiots.
I'm glad you liked it. You're not a pinhead. LOL!
I agree. While I appreciate the spirited defense, I think idiots is a little strong. My introductory post was a little too low-key on the sarasm, and it threw some folks off. So, my bad.
To add to the confusion, I can easily believe an Obama supporter would be dense enough to make this video as a sincere tribute to their candidates’ rhetorical skill.
I can easily imagine a second-term Obama telling the electorate that he will need more time to secure the vision and is, therefore, suspending the next election for the good of the country and his dream...and so on and so on and scooby doobie do. Let’s just defeat young mister Obama slamma jamma right from the outset and save ourselves the trouble that would come later if he were elected.
My apologies. After reading other comments I realize I should’ve finished it. Very difficult to do but will try later.
I haven’t watched the video but it sounds like he strung together a bunch of fluff and malaise-mongering in order to pound home the point that Obama is a fluffy malaise monger.
I beg to differ! I think he succeeded where you think he failed. Maybe you are clueless!
I paticularly liked the “credit” to the NEA!
You know, there is such a thing as differing, making a point, having a dialog, discussing, bantering, and debating without name calling. When you can do that then get back to me.
“Name calling” seems to be the only thing you understand. Not only did you NOT understand the intent of the video, you don’t seem willing to accept that others did and thought it funny! Frankly, I couldn’t care less what you think...IF you do!
Loved it! Yes, it was subtle...irony and satire tend to fall on deaf ears on FR!
Don’t let that worry you. Very professional presentation.

THE OBAMA FILE. CONSTANTLY UPDATED.
Check out the EMPLOYMENT section of the link I posted:
Both the CCRC and the DCP were built on the Alinsky model of community agitation, wherein paid organizers learned how to "rub raw the sores of discontent," in Alinsky's words. Hillary isn't the only Alinskyite.
One of Obama's early mentors in the Alinsky method was Mike Kruglik, who had this to say to an interviewer of The New Republic, about Obama:
"He was a natural, the undisputed master of agitation, who could engage a room full of recruiting targets in a rapid-fire Socratic dialogue, nudging them to admit that they were not living up to their own standards. As with the panhandler, he could be aggressive and confrontational. With probing, sometimes personal questions, he would pinpoint the source of pain in their lives, tearing down their egos just enough before dangling a carrot of hope that they could make things better."
The agitator's job, according to Alinsky, is first to bring folks to the "realization" that they are indeed miserable, that their misery is the fault of unresponsive governments or greedy corporations, then help them to bond together to demand what they deserve, and to make such an almighty stink that the dastardly governments and corporations will see imminent "self-interest" in granting whatever it is that will cause the harassment to cease.
In these methods, euphemistically labeled "community organizing," Obama had a four-year education, which he often says was the best education he ever got anywhere.
Just watched the video. I got your point right away without reading any comments here or on YouTube first. It was pretty obvious what you are trying to do when you read the commentary on the video. Obama is a typical lib—he wants everyone to enjoy their misery equally. Excellent job—gave it 5 stars. Welcome to FR.
What a total phony B. Hussein Obama is and his followers are stupid beyond belief.
