I never responded to the merits of this bill because the main thing I noticed was your reply #1 which wrongfully and shamefully put the blame on Republicans. You can’t defend that either factually or logically. And you sure can’t reconcile it with your tepid defense of the Republican Party you have spent this entire thread tearing apart.

But its Mrs Schafly’s article. Mrs Schafly is the first on this thread to say and I quote “Republicans allowed a bill that carries his name, among nine others, to pass the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by voice vote last week – without any hearings. That means there was no roll-call vote so no member can be held accountable. The same bill passed the House by voice vote last year.” She pointed a finger at republicans. In case you are stupid, Mrs Schlafly almost single handedly stopped the ERA ammendment from passing. Then as now she spotted an egregious bill that everyone thought was warm and cuddly including republicans and shouted it out of existence. Now she IS aiming her ire at republicans just as she did almost 30 years ago. She wasnt talking to dems(who were all for ERA) back then and she isnt talking to dems now. She is attacking republicans as rightfully she should. I agree with her.

I want conservatives to retake the republican party in the fusionist image that Reagan cultivated. Call me a nut if you will but conservatives wont have a voice until they unify and force the republican party to adhere to their principles. The repubican party wont listen to conservatives until we once again unify. Yeah we can agree that Hagel is bad but there is a whole lot of Hagel going on within the republican party. McCain is our nominee because of the Hagels.
