It has been around since the Monterrey conference. It has gotten more play recently because of the paucity of legislation sponsored by BHObama which can be trumpeted on the campaign trail in response to those pundits asking prospective voters to name something the man has done in the Senate.
For my part, I regularly let my elected representatives know of my stance on the issue, and I’ve been very vocal about the lack of hearings, and the lack of recorded votes on the issue so far in the legislative process.
Any Republican who supports this bill should be expelled from the party. It’s an abomination, a travesty.

Just discovered Rush did weigh in on this recently. Lets face it, at this point, the only thing conservatives can do is pull McCain up by the short and curlies every chance we get. Doesn’t mean we have to vote for him(I am still on the fence) but we can turn up the heat and make him address conservative concerns. Bush couldn’t get away with immigration reform or Harriet Miers because of conservative heat as a standing lame duck president. We should discount ourselves for affecting what McCain will want to say or do running up to the election. We’ll just have to stay on top of him afterwards as best we can.
