Fox News' Carl Cameron defends McCain against ultra-liberal New York Times

With the New York Times smear on likely Republican nominee John McCain and his alleged inappropriate relationship with lobbyist Vicki Iseman, Fox News political correspondent Carl Cameron called in to add his take. Cameron revealed on the February 21 edition of "Fox and Friends," that Fox News came across these rumors last fall. Cameron stated that they were "unable to substantiate any of it."

In regards to the alleged affair with lobbyist Vicki Iseman, Cameron asserted that they "were able to find precisely nobody who would go on the record or even suggest off the record that there was truth to the suggestion that there had been any sort of an inappropriate personal relationship."

Could this be the allegedly "conservative" Fox News covering up for a Republican? Carl Cameron’s record does not back that up. Cameron broke the George W. Bush DUI story on Fox News five days before the 2000 election, that possibly cost Bush the popular vote and put Florida to well within the recount margin.

I believe the NYT, as part of the propaganda arm of the democratic party, is acting in a self-defeating manner. When the marxist MSM picks on someone, it will tend to drive some conservatives to support the target. It will get people to overlook McCain’s warts on “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” logic, and he will wind up the net winner from this.

I think the important part of this is that Fox News is willing to stand up to the liberal media.

The NY Times has fallen to the category of a third-class, grocery store check-out line rag. It’s revenues continue to fall, and it’s presteige has all but disappeared. Certainly an ace candidate for a “MSM Death Watch”. Yellow journalism? at its worst. Who is running? that business? Seems like a bunch of fourth-grade communist brats. A disgrace to the Country !!!! They aren’t going to be around much longer if they continue down their present “trash path”. Good riddance !!

Okay, hear me out. Don’t slap a tinfoil hat on me just yet, but think about this... Is this a rope-a-dope on us Conservatives? McCane can’t be that naive to think that the Times would be continually kind to him, that they would turn around and do this to him... McCane must also know that we Conservatives despise and distrust the Times... is it possible that he set this up so we feel some sympathy towards him? That we would leap up and defend him because we don’t like the Times? I’m just thinking....

Very shrewd positioning. I believe the majority of the country wants fair and balanced news. It’s clear, even to morons, that the MSM is not fair and balanced. The number of Americans who want Pravda is less than the majority. Thus, the NYT, ABC, CNN, NPR, etc...are all fighting over less than 1/2 the relevant market, while Fox gets over 1/2 all to themselves...

Consider another possibility. Imagine for a moment that the NYT doesn’t think Obama or Clinton are fit to win the presidency.

An unfair NYT hit piece could bring conservatives to support McCain. Surely the NYT is bright enough to forsee this as the result of their lame hit piece.

Then it started in November with Drudge...I think if they wanted to delete McCain they would have done it in the primaries. Frankly, there was no conservative that could go up against any of the democrats running this time. So the Times got in on the slime a little late now, didn’t they.
