A Dallas police officer died Friday when his motorcycle struck a curb on the Houston Street viaduct as he was escorting Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to a rally in Oak Cliff.
"One of our motorcycle jockeys rounded the curb, hit the curb, and went down," said Lt. Vernon Hale, spokesman for the Dallas Police Department.
The officer's motorcycle was near the rear of the motorcade as it headed south on the viaduct when the accident happened about 9:20 a.m.
Police identified the officer as Senior Cpl. Victor Lozada, 49, a 20-year veteran of the department.
"There are no routine jobs in this business," Lt. Hale said. "It is a dangerous job."
"He was just a very caring police officer who loved his job, loved the Dallas Police Department and tried to do the right thing."

A lot of those dead body guards are Marines who went to war and died. I don’t think that list means a whole lot, really.
That’s not real, is it?
In my hometown last year (Bama)....they had a motorcycle cop killed in a minor crash with some car...going less than 30mph. The town only has two of these cycle cops. Afterwards...everyone wanted to defend the practice of motorcycle cops...but some folks started to ask really intelligent questions about the necessity of these guys.
I finally came to agree that there are very few reasons to continue this practice and ninety percent of these requirements ought to be halted. I’ll bet that if someone added up the deaths and accidents per year...it’d be a pretty fair number.
What means a lot is with her hatred for law enforcement she doesn't care when these public servents die protecting her. To her they are pigs.
I read that book. She does a really good job of hiding who she really is and her supporters do a really good job of hiding from the ugly truth.
They have to lest they admit they support a reprehensible wretch.
Yes it is real. Time had the Bush headline on Aug 27. Time had the Clinto headline today.

Both incidents involved motorcycle officers. The Bush incident took place in Albuquerque. Todays incident happened in Dallas. In short, these are very similar stories. Why such dramatically different headlines? Perhaps someone from Time would care to explain.
The last four names on your list are of ATF agents killed at Waco.
Thanks for the ping!
Prayers for one of Dallas’ finest.
Sadly another long time officer retires tonight who I know from my motorcycle club.
It was reported that Hillary was cancelling her scheduled rally in order to go and visit the family of the fallen officer. - Someone refresh my memory. Wasn’t there some sort of flack a few years ago about Hillary’s chauffer driven limousine mowing down an officer in D.C. (with her agging the chauffer on) after he tried to halt her limousine due to not being properly marked to be allowed entry? I wonder if she visited that guy in the hospital at that time; it all seemed to hush up real quick at that time.
Saw that on the Previous thread which has now been edited to male.
“Fidelis Ad Mortem”
Sympathies to the family, friends, and coworkers of Corporal Lozada.
Quick people get out of the way...theres a TV camera and Hillary has worked up some tears over this in hopes of gaining fase sympathy votes. If you get between her and the camera you could end up badly injured.
On a very serious note...God bless this mans family. He died doing his duty and thank God for men and women like him.
