As a former bus driver, I have always wondered (and pestered the higher ups) about WHY AREN’T THERE SEATBELTS ON BUSES!? I never ever received a satisfactory answer.

Where are you going to get drivers who can enforce the rules about wearing the seatbelt? Punks today tell their teachers to f off, the would probably stomp on the bus driver.
I picture the kids taking razor blades and cutting the belts off. Now what’s the school district to do? Using the bus without belts would be a violation of the law but they are responsible for getting the kids to their locations.
Too many problems with the idea.
I had been told that the bus frame could not withstand the stress of the mass of a load of kids buckled in and would buckle in an impact, but that was long ago, and I am not sure it is accurate.
I heard years ago it would be "too expensive" for the school districts to install them in all their school buses, OTOH, I found it fascinating that the drivers had one. Does anyone know if some buses have them now?
they don’t want to pay for them, and don’t think they could get kids to use them if they did. Drivers aren’t supposed to discipline kids so how do you force them to use them?
Let me ask you this question -- respectfully, since you have the bus driving experience -- is it possible to enforce the use of seatbelts?
