“Mpls. Army recruiting center targeted by vandals”
Police are searching for the vandals who destroyed a Twin Cities Army-recruiting center Wednesday.
Officials said three heavy concrete bricks were hurled repeatedly until the windows of the U.S. Army recruiting center in south Minneapolis shattered.
“You’re going to have to have a deliberate plan to do this sort of a thing,” said Capt. Mark Gunther of the U.S. Army recruiting company.
It is the sixth break-in during the past 18 months.
The vandals have dumped paint on the sidewalks and windows or left vulgar graffiti in the past.
“It frustrates me. Because we’re just not the right people,” Gunther said.
The Army thinks someone upset about the Iraq war may be to blame.
“We’re here and we’re here to stay. We’re not going to let the few, so to speak, kind of try to run us out of the area,” Gunther explained to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.
The restaurant across the street, It’s Greek To Me, also had a window smashed recently.
“People think they can go smash a window or tag or something like that. It costs everybody in the long run,” said It’s Greek co-owner, Denise Aramadjis.
Of all the recruiting stations from Buffalo to Wisconsin, this is the only one vandalized so far this year.

OK, I may not be a member of MENSA, but after six, count ‘em, six attacks on the Minneapolis Army Recruiting Center, I would say it’s long overdue to install a hidden security camera near the front of the recruiting office in order to catch these scumbag vandals in the act.
