n 1984, William J. Benson began a research project, never before performed, to investigate the process of ratification of the 16th Amendment...

Hmmm - William J. Benson, wasn't he the guy who was collecting SS disability while working (fraud) and was prosecuted for not filing income tax returns?

The 16th amendment was passed in direct response to the SCOTUS decision in Pollock v. Farmers' Loan & Trust Co., that overturned 100 years of precedence and redefined direct taxes. Whether or not the 16th amendment was passed, it is likely the SCOTUS decision would have been overturned. But never mind - have another glass of Kool-aid.

Yes he was and it does not mean he is wrong. The point is that that is not now a good footing to try by not paying taxes. They have tried to cover their tracks with modifications to the USC. It would probably be easier to get in front of the Supreme Court with a RIOC lawsuit than a tax evasion one regarding the 16th. No I am not a kool-aid drinker. I am looking for a way to actually come with a tax situation that is fair to all. The Fair Tax plan is not it.
