My Dad was a yougnster in Newark when that broadcast was made. The panic was real and several people died when their cars crashed as they sped out of town!!

My Mom was a freelance fashion artist living in Greenwich Village NYC when Orson Wells did the "Martian" broadcast. She always said the panic was real....I have heard recordings of it, and, had I been around then, I would have freeked too!!
