My god with a SM-3 standard missile on an Aegis ship. Impressive as all high hell! Up to date SM-2 can’t be much less accurate.

I guess you don’t try and attack a carrier group nowadays.

Did the ship use it’s own radar for the intercept? I guess it must be pretty upgraded if so.

I never could believe the traitor hippies in the scientific community that said it couldn’t work. You don’t know that anything will work until you try.

The Case Against Star Wars Weapons (TIME MAGAZINE)

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,954303,00.html

Democratic Front Runner Walter Mondale last week denounced the plan as “dangerously destabilizing” and called for a freeze on military uses of space. The Democrats believe that the President’s embrace of antimissile weapons will fan fears that he is a trigger-happy nucl ear cowboy.

But, but, that’s like hitting a bullet with a bullet.

Well, a little bullet hitting a big bullet. But could do that too, if you could build a little tiny guidance set into the little bullet.

I believe that three SM-3’s had their software altered to enable them to track a satellite still in orbit (relatively cold) rather than a warhead reentry vehicle (suborbital, and much hotter).

The USS Lake Erie has 122 missile launch tubes, each of which can store and launch an SM-3.

(Great shot, Navy. The US West Coast should rest easier tonight—from fear of our enemies, not space debris.)

UNARMED CIVILIAN SATELLITE

It belonged to the NRO

The National Reconnaissance Office which is part of the DoD. IOW, not a civilian satellite.
