Gotcha! And I know what you mean.
Similar problem in Evangelical churches. Pastors
don’t even bother to preach against abortion for
fear of hurting the women who’ve aborted, or
the bottom line.

True. That said, the political culture is there among the members and the preachers of the evangelicals. I guess what I don’t get in the Catholic world is the lay people not calling a Priest or Bishop to the mat who is saying essentially vote Democrat because of “X” issue, whatever it is, and the lay person talking about life and explaining that government redistribution is theft not charity.
Denver’s Archbishop Chaput this week stated his flock
could vote dem, as long as they told the candidate
they wanted him or her to change.
Go figure!!
Heresy.

In a lot of evangelical churches, if the pastor showed support for a politician that was pro-abortion, the pastor would get a lot of e-mails and face-to-face criticism.
Sorry for the double post.
From Denver’s Rocky Mountain News:
Chaput: OK for Catholics to vote for pro-choice candidate
Tuesday, February 12 at 1:36 PM
Catholics should weigh a range of moral issues when casting a vote but the door is open for them to support a pro-choice candidate, Archbishop Charles Chaput says.
