There are no written rules of engagement in the ongoing tussle between Israel and Hezbollah. And if there were, neither would stick by them for long. This has been an open war with both parties using every available resource and every trick in the book. But quite often both would accept mediation and, through third-party negotiations, they would agree to exchange prisoners and the remains of dead soldiers and fighters.

There is something unintentional that the writer of this article lets out. He is also saying that if Hetzbolla doesn’t respond — they will be shown up as very weak. And if they do respond in kind—chances are they will lose as much or more politically than what they might gain tactically. The guy let on something more. The guy who was hit in Damascus was was irreplaceable. He had become an icon. He was their ronald reagan.
