They can’t get Langford into court—and out of office—soon enough for my tastes...that guy is a hazard to every wallet and purse in Jeffco.

As a recent transplant to the Birmingham area I tried to learn what I could about the politics here. I came to the conclusion very quickly that every time they show one of these parasites on the news they need to include the caption: “I haven’t got my share of graft yet.”

I don’t think a single person in B’ham city government, Jefferson County government is worth squat, they all come off as shady—and that’s compared to other politicians.

Of the places I have lived, Birmingham has the highest sales taxes, they collect income tax: city and county here,
they complain they don’t have enough money to fix roads and make improvements, and yet they want to put in such regional tourism “magnets” as a domed stadium—which incidentally Langford and his buddies seem to be the only ones that want it.

Get used to stuff like this. In case you didn't know much about Langford's background...he was pretty much incahoots with Scrushy on the whole HealthSouth debacle. It's no surprise what's left of the shareholders are going after him.

Langford also has run two bond scams past the people of B'ham and Jeffco, which basically ended up as two worthless amusement parks. One was Kiddieland, which now rots in Fairfield on the old fairgrounds. The other used to be called Visionland. I'm not sure what it's called now, but it's destined to meet with a similar fate.

Langford made off like gangbusters, and idiots in the county and city not only bit, twice...but then they put him in the mayors office. Blacks in B'ham vote 100% on two things; skin color, and how much you can 'stick it to whitey'.

The sheer stupidity of it is a major reason why I no longer live there. Like I said, get used to it if you're there long term. It doesn't change. The same crooks have stayed in power for going on 40+ years.
