It's Nixon's fault that Washington's Birthday is now called "Presidents' Day"--as if all the Presidents deserved to be honored. I think when Congress passed the law moving holidays to Mondays, it was called Washington's Birthday, but Nixon wanted it to honor both Washington and Lincoln, and since then it has been taken as referring to all 42 men.
The current President is called the 43rd President but he's actually the 42nd--Grover Cleveland gets two numbers.
