How exactly will John McCain win without the conservative base of the GOP? I guess you haven't noticed that conservatives just haven't been motivated to show up this year, have you?

I've got a gut feeling that McCain is going to win. With or without the support of social conservatives.

This is the risk social conservative are running. For a long time, no one in the republican party or other conservative circles really know how strong your faction of the party really is.

I suggest your faction is very similar to the Wizard of Oz. Lot's of fluster, bluster, smoke, fire, loud voice and an image of power. If McCain wins as I believe he will without your support because you stayed at home, voted third party, wrote in some name or ignored the top of the ticket, McCain will have in essence exposed the man behind the curtain just as the Wizard was exposed during one of his appearances.

If you give this to McCain in this way, every party chairman and every mover and shaker will no longer fear the unknown of what if social conservatives pull their support. Any statewide candidate, not someone running in a gerrymandered congressional district, will know that they can now ignore social conservatives. They will ignore you more than you ever claimed or imagined you have been ignored in the past.

You feel like you've been sent to the back of the bus or you're only treated in the same manner Democrats treat blacks by the republican party? Wait until you try the trick of not voting and McCain still wins.

Moses wandered in the desert for 40 years. Much like Moses, social conservatives will be left wandering in the political wilderness for generations to come.

Your entire post amounts to little more than whistling past the graveyard.
