Republican Congressman: Time To Stand Up for Sderot
(IsraelNN.com) New Jersey Republican Scott Garrett, in an opinion article in the left-wing Forward newspaper in New York, wrote that "it is time to stand up for the people of Sderot." He asserted, "Enough is enough. It's time for the global community to stand up to Palestinian extremists and fight to protect the innocent Israelis in harms way." The Congressman noted that an average of 12 rockets and mortar shells a day have been fired on the western Negev since January.
Last week, he introduced a bipartisan resolution that condemns Arab terrorist strikes and supports Israeli retaliation. The resolution has gained 70 co-sponsors.

U.S., Ukranian Officials See Kassam Damage in Sderot
by Israel National News
(IsraelNN.com) Two members of the U.S. Congress visited Sderot Sunday, and were guided by MK Yuval Shteinitz (Likud).
Senator Jon Kyl (R., Arizona) said he intended to tell the citizens in the U.S. how bad things were in Israel, in the hope that this would ensure continued support for the country. He added that the U.S. Congress has put limitations on the money it sends to Egypt.
Congressman Elton Gallegly (R., California) said the people of Sderot are “prisoners in their own community.”
The American visitors expressed their support for Israel and called for pressure on Hamas, as well as Egypt.
In addition, Foreign Ministry Director Aharon Abramovich showed foreign ambassadors the sights and sounds of Sderot. “Because things are getting worse,” he explained, “we thought it would be good to bring the ambassadors out here to Sderot again to see the reality that we are trying to deal with.”
I’m really impressed since this guy is from NJ. From what I’ve heard and read NJ politicians pretty much suck.
365 to go.
finally someone in NJ with a brain
Any congressperson not signing on as a co-sponsor is aiding the enemy. It really is that simple. The remaining 365 should tells us (post haste), are they with the enemy, or are they with us! Time to choose a side, congress-persons.
Innocent Israeli children wait helplessly inside a bomb shelter during one of tens of thousands recent rocket attacks
on the southern Israeli town of Sderot in May, 2007.
You live by the sword, you die by the sword.
I’ve never heard of ‘Sderot’. What state is it in?
Southern Israel.
So why does America need to take action? After all, we aren’t doing anything in Kosovo (rightfully so). These are foreign countries.

It's time for Israel to stand up for Sderot.
The United States is NOT responsible for what happens to Israel. Israel is lost in a fog of UN resolutions, blather about "right to exist" and "international community", and is self-goverened by weaklings and capitulationists.
Any Israeli who is not making evacuation plans doesn't understand the issues.
This has ZERO to to with the United States Congress.
IF Israel wanted to mount an aggressive forward defense, I would support sending them money and weapons - because Israel's enemies really REALLY piss me off.
But if Israel is determined to commit suicide on the installment plan, that's their choice - and it will really juice the real estate market in South Florida.
110th CONGRESS
2d Session
H. RES. 951
Condemning the ongoing Palestinian rocket attacks on Israeli civilians, and for other purposes.
IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Mr. GARRETT of New Jersey (for himself, Mr. ENGEL, Mr. HENSARLING, and Ms. BERKLEY) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Foreign Affairs
RESOLUTION
Condemning the ongoing Palestinian rocket attacks on Israeli civilians, and for other purposes.
Whereas more than 4,000 rockets and mortar shells have been fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip by Hamas and other terrorist organizations since Israeli forces withdrew from there in 2005;
Whereas, since January 1, 2008, terrorists have fired more than 420 rockets and mortar shells into Israel;
Whereas the near-daily rocket fire has been targeted primarily and intentionally at civilian communities in Israel, such as Sderot and Ashkelon, making life in such areas agonizing;
Whereas the terrorist rockets have hit homes, buildings, roads, power lines, and other such infrastructure in Israel;
Whereas these rocket attacks have forced Israel to suffer dozens of casualties, hundreds of shock victims, thousands of traumatized children, and severe disruption of daily life;
Whereas military intelligence reports indicate that the rockets used in the attacks on Israel are made in Iran and often smuggled into Gaza through Egypt;
Whereas Haaretz has reported that no fewer than 1,650 rockets and 6,000 bombs, as well as millions of bullets for light weapons and tons of potassium for manufacturing bombs, were smuggled into Gaza through Egypt in 2007 alone; and
Whereas the launching of the rockets by Hamas is made possible largely by technical expertise provided by the Iranian and Syrian Governments: Now, therefore, be it
Resolved, That the House of Representatives--
(1) condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the ongoing Iranian-enabled rocket attacks on Israeli civilians;
(2) supports the sovereign right of the Government of Israel to defend its territory and stop the rocket attacks on its citizens;
(3) recognizes the difficult balance Israel faces as the competing pressures of being the primary supplier of numerous necessities for Palestinian civilians, such as fuel, electricity, and medicine, even while rockets are being fired at Israel from Palestinian areas;
(4) supports Palestinian civilians who reject Hamas and all forms of terrorism, desiring to live in peace with their Israeli neighbors;
(5) places responsibility for launching the rocket attacks on Hamas and other terrorist organizations, such as Islamic Jihad, in Gaza;
(6) regards these rocket attacks and the fostering of terrorism in the Palestinian territories as direct hindrances to the peace process in the region;
(7) recognizes that the rocket attacks against Israel would not be possible without the material support of the Governments of Iran and Syria;
(8) calls on all nations, including Egypt, to take affirmative, transparent, verifiable steps to stop the flow of rockets and other terrorism-enabling materials (including human resources) to the Palestinian territories; and
(9) reaffirms the strong and unyielding friendship between the governments and the people of Israel and the United States.
I will send this to my Congress person from Kansas. Dennis Moore. He’s up for election so being a Dem he will support it. Not many Dem’s in Kansas. Sadly the GOP has not defeated him in 4 trys.
We(the US taxpayers) are paying for the vehicles the missile and mortar launchers are using to get to and from launch sites, we are paying for the electricity to provide them with lights to build missiles at night. We provide monies for the missile teams’ medical care after they are injured in work related accidents or hit by the IDF. We’re paying for their food, we pay for their handguns, rifles, uniforms, ammunition, tents, command structure electronics, we pay their salaries, we pay pensions to killed missile team widows and orphans. We pay for the schools that teach racial supremacist genocidal propaganda to young minds.
Scott Garrett says enough is enough. I applaud my Congressman for stepping up, though I wish he picked a different publication to print his views.
The problem is US involvement. WE helped force Israel to create a terrorist state in Gaza, from which the constant corcket attacks come. WE also threaten Israel not to respond.
The problem is very much the wimpishness of the Olmerde government as well, which is not appreciated by the jeopardized population of Sderot.
And the administration is considering interfering with the judicial, to somehow bar payment of judgements entered in American courts against the PLO and PA in favor of the families of American victims of terror.
Victims of Palestinian terror ask US not to hinder their cases [State Dept takes terrorists side]
Next up, consistancy requires we take the side of Libya against the judgements held by Pan Am 103 victims.
I'd suggest James Baker for the job, he has experience stemming from the 9/11 victims suit. Representing Saudis, of course.
