The Guinness Book of World Records is researching
to see if Clarence and Mayme Vail qualify
as the longest-married couple alive

Congratulations to them! It’s good to read about things like this in our often degenerate age!

Congratulations! Mr. Ditter and I just celebrated our 50th and that pales in comparison to their 83rd.

Congratulations to this couple. Eighty-three years. Wow! The wife and I will have been married 50 years come June 1, 2008. We are newlyweds compared to this couple.
The wife has always told me she was going to keep me around for 50 years. But, she has never told me what she is going to do with me after the 50 years. I am beginning to worry!

Is that a recent photo? They actually look pretty young, like they could be in their 80’s.
Well, congrats to them. They sound like sweet people.

Does “this Sunday” mean today, or one week from now?

“What’s your secret to a long life and happy marriage?”, asks the reporter.
“Well,” they say, thinking for a while, “that would have to be drinking, smoking, cavorting, arguing politics & religion, eating a lot of spicy and fatty food, driving fast, gambling, and generally irritating everybody we know.”
“Good heavens!”, said the reporter.
“Yep,” they continue, “Ya can’t do any of those things and live long and have a happy marriage, all right.”
“Whew!”, exclaims the reporter.
“I guess the secret to living long and having a happy marriage is being dull and bored and never having any fun”, they conclude.
