Everytime I hear a jock talk about anything, I get sick to my brain.
I personally am sick of folks using the single verse Matthew 7:1 out of context.:
1 Judge not, that you be not judged."
On the surface, it sounds as if we are being commanded to not judge other people. What is funny - this verse, while sometimes attributed to Christ, was actually an introductory clause before Christ's words that start with verse 2, which puts the CONTEXT in:
2For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3Why do you see the speck that is in your brothers eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4Or how can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye, when there is the log in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brothers eye.
A plain reading reveals that the whole concept is that we should refrain from being hypocrites by judging others for the same sins we harbor in our own lives. Thus the idea of removing the mote (log/limb/board) from our own eyes before trying to take the spec out of your neighbor's eye.
The reality is, we are suppose to make judgments to help people turn from the corruption (sin) in their lives. But try to correct someone for bad behavior when you have the same bad behavior in your life doesn't work.
