He's proven his dislike for conservatives and would gut us at every opportunity.

While weakening the party from within.

He’s not weakening the party from within, he’s trying to weaken Movement Conservative influence on the GOP.

You guys are heaping on McCain, and I understand why, he’s not one of you, he not only goes against you on high profile issus, he goes against you with glee.

But it’s simply ridiculous to say he’s “weakening the party.” Everything McCain wanted got shot down. Everything McCain opposed, got passed.

The result? The GOP is toxic right now. I just don’t understand how in the climate we’re in, it’s MCCAIN who’s weakened the party. I mean let’s get real, McCain is just about the only Republican in the entire nation who could be elected in 2008, and the odds are heavily against him. If someone you guys like ran, whether it’s Mitt or Coburn, he’d be crushed by Obama so bad he’d soil his pants. You know this.

Having said all that, I agree, if McCain becomes president, Movement Conservatism is in for a bad bad time, I think McCain will do everything in his power to pull the GOP to the middle. It’ll be partly payback. But I also think he simply believes that’s the way government should work, with the views of both sides reflected.
