NOTHING seemed very remarkable about the short, bearded man who mingled with other guests on Tuesday evening at a reception in Damascus, the Syrian capital, to mark the 29th anniversary of Ayatollah Khomeinis Iranian revolution.
Yet before the night was over he was dead in the twisted wreckage of his car and the inevitable assumption was that Mossad, the Israeli foreign intelligence service, had killed him with an ingeniously planted bomb.
The news spread rapidly that the dead man was Imad Mughniyeh, an elusive figure known as the Fox who had been one of the worlds most feared terrorist masterminds.
Robert Baer, a former CIA agent who spent years on his trail, said Mughniyeh was probably the most intelligent, most capable operative weve ever run across.
***************************snip**********************
Minutes later he was seated in his silver Mitsubishi Pajero in a nearby street when a deafening blast ripped the car apart and killed him instantly.
According to Israeli intelligence sources, someone had replaced the headrest of the drivers seat with another containing a small high-explosive charge. Israel welcomed his death but the prime ministers office denied responsibility. Hezbollah accused the Zionist Israelis of killing its brother commander but believed the explosive had been detonated in another car by satellite.
OK...thanks....nite all.
Are you seeing the red car in #32? I ain’t.
Look at the man on the far left in the white shirt. He is looking down at the red car, and its headlight is to the left of his leg. You can also see a touch of red under the head light. Look at the car’s angle in the other photo to see why the two men are blocking it.
Also look at the bumper on the sedan on the right of both pics. It is blown on the ground, and the trunk is partially elevated and open.
You can also see the red between his legs.
See ya, wouldn’t wanna be ya.
Those headrest bombs can be a killer.
Pic 1 has an intact left front wheel. Pic 2 does not.
Do these two blast scenes appear to be the same, to y’all?
The red car is blocking the rims, but I think I see the tire in both. Look at the unusual shape of the car’s frame. There is an unusual amount of space between the frame and the tire.
Sweetie, photo 1 is propaganda, photo 2 is how it really happened.
LOL
You can disagree, but I am certain. Both photos indicate a blast from inside the car in my opinion, so I do not see a proaganda purpose for either.
Look at the far right of both photos, and you will see the bumper of the sedan on the ground. Now look at the shape of that bumper and its trapeziod shaped edges.
I agree with your post # 70.
The smoke and dirty lense just make the scene hard to examine.
Thanks. I am starting to wonder if I am out of it. LOL
You two must have seeing-eye dogs. Or you should. I think they're free if you qualify.
And more importantly (as you noted) both pictures indicate that a violent explosion took place inside the car.
Did you see my post 73?
I thought that was the clincher. But you are entitled to your opinion. Your charm will not convince me otherwise.
I agree. Different angles can make scenes look quite different, but there is enough to convince me it is the exact same scene.
