There is no reason to go after the businesses in those cities, unless they were complicit in denying the Marines what was due them.

As in the case of Toledo, Ohio...the mayor acted strictly on his own, blaming everyone except himself for dissing the Marines. The whole deal was set up ahead of time with no argument from businesses or the Toledo Police Department. People in the area have welcomed the Marines and armed forces. The incident lies squarely on Mayor Carleton S. Finkbeiner’s shoulders and no one else’s.

Boycotting area businesses would serve mainly to hurt friends and relatives of currently serving troops.

Too bad..

If your feeling the pinch because of a potential customer boycott.. then the Businesses need to put pressure on the city council to shut the **** up.

I would not shop in Berkeley now if you paid me until a full apology and a full PUBLIC retraction of the phrase Neither Wanted or Invited is issued. I blaim the city council but that means I also do not have to vist that city or shop there.

The cops are part of the problem and deserve to be shamed. I saw a video clip of a smarmy Berkly cop refusing to enforce the law, saying he was neutral. Neutrality to the cops means standing around wacthing the law being broken?

Which is true.. but madison.. its the old way to send a messgage to the cities that their actions affect the businesses in their districts which also affects their citizens.

Its about the only effective way to get a city governments attention. I am not even a ex-marine.. and this whole issue ticks me off.

Sorry, Thats not how it works. If the business and employees of them allow A-holes like this to stay in office they are part of the problem.

If you cut their bottom line they will scream to those that can change it.

It sets an example to other cities for what not to do.
