To: Paleo Conservative

I’ve seen both these formats. I have to admit. It creeped me out when I watched them. Its like your not even watching a film anymore. Its like your actually on the set as it was filmed.

I know many will find this impressive, but I really enjoy the cinema grainy look to movies when you watch them in theaters. With these formats, all the character of the camera and film is removed. It’s just too sterile looking.

I feel the same way. There are even special computer programs for video editors to convert their video to give it a "film" look.

Blu-ray doesn't do anything but deliver a clearer version of the film print than a standard DVD would - the difference is you are seeing it on a clear, bright, backlit HDTV instead of a warped old movie theater screen using a grainy, slightly out-of-focus projector. That's a trade-off I'll gladly make. ;)
