I'm surprised the percentage isn't higher.
I can accept 70% if that represents a current snapshot of all HIV cases, nationwide. But given all we've learned over the years and all we're doing today (education, condoms, needle exchange, testing blood supplies), I would think that the yearly percentage of new cases would be closer to 90% homosexual.
Nothing to back that figure up. Just a guess.
I hear some people lie to pollsters/survey takers/medical personnel about their sex lives and/or illegal drug use . . .
I could buy that.
I grew up during the '80s, and I remember when they were scaring the sh*t out of us over AIDS, as if you could get if by looking at a girl cross-eyed. Turns out if you were a run-of-the mill hetero, and you weren't shooting up horse and you didn't have a recent blood transfusion, chances are you weren't going to catch the AIDS after all.
