CAIRO, Egypt - Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan joined a protest Wednesday seeking the support of Egypt's first lady in ending a military trial of members of the country's largest Islamic organization.

Under the watchful eyes of dozens of black-clad and helmeted anti-riot police, some 50 heavily veiled wives and children of 40 senior members of the Muslim Brotherhood detained for the past year, gathered in front of the headquarters of first lady Suzanne Mubarak's National Council Women carrying banners calling for their release.

"I am here to protest the trial of civilians in front of a military tribunal as this is a violation to international law," said Sheehan, who gained fame in the U.S. for her sit-in outside President Bush's Texas ranch following the death of her son in Iraq.

"As a mother of a son who was killed in the war, I presented a letter to Ms. Suzanne Mubarak to realize how those women and children are suffering."

Her son's insurance

I am betting that money is already gone, since she has been at this for four years. $300K (I believe that was the insurance money) does not go as far as it use to.

“I am here to protest the trial of civilians in front of a military tribunal as this is a violation to international law,”

LOL! Hey everyone! Now Sheehan is an expert on international law - Maybe she got an honorary degree from somewhere.

“As a mother of a son who was killed in the war, I presented a letter to Ms. Suzanne Mubarak to realize how those women and children are suffering.”

As a mother of a son? How are you different than any other mother, except for the fact that you are a cast iron kook?

Isn't this the organization that Al Queda grew out of?

Did she consent to wear a burkha?

Ayman al-Zawahiri

Up to $25 Million Reward

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayman_al-Zawahiri

http://www.rewardsforjustice.net/index.cfm?page=Zawahiri

By 14, al-Zawahiri had joined the Muslim Brotherhood (al-Ikhwan al-Muslimin) Islamist group. The following year the Egyptian government executed Qutb for conspiracy, and al-Zawahiri, along with four other secondary school students, helped form an "underground cell devoted to overthrowing the government and establishing an Islamist state." It was at this early age that al-Zawahiri developed a mission in life, "to put Qutb's vision into action."[9] His cell eventually merged with others to form al-Jihad or Egyptian Islamic Jihad.[10] At Cairo University, Al-Zawahiri studied behavior, psychology and pharmacology graduating in 1974 with gayyid giddan. Following that he served three years as a surgeon in the Egyptian Army after which he established a clinic near his parents.[10] In 1978, he also earned a masters degree in surgery.[11]

Next, she will be joining Al Queda.

She already has, at least figuratively. She makes Tokyo Rose look like a flag waving patriot.

Wouldn’t it be great if whoever paid for her fare to Egypt didn’t pay for the return fare?

Wouldn’t it be even better if she got herself thrown in and Egyptian prison and had to rely on the Bush administration to get her dumb a$$ out? Oh, that would be great!

Cindy has no problem aligning herself with any group as long as they are anti-Bush...she conveniently ignores all the other directed hatreds they practice.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_brotherhood

The Brotherhood has been an illegal organization, tolerated to varying degrees, since 1954 when it was convicted of the attempt to assassinate Gamal Abdel Nasser, head of the Egyptian government. The group had denied involvement in the accident and accused the government of staging the accident to use it as a pretext to persecute the group and its members. On this basis from 1954 until Nasser's death in 1971, thousands of Muslim Brotherhood members were systemically tortured under Nasser's secular regime, highlighted in Zainab al Ghazali's Return of the Pharaoh. Nasser's successor, Anwar Sadat, promised the Brotherhood that shari'a would be implemented as the Egyptian law and released all of the Brotherhood prisoners. However, as a result of Sadat signing a peace agreement with Israel in 1979, an Islamic group other than the Brotherhood assassinated Sadat in September, 1981.

The Brotherhood is still periodically subjected to mass arrests. It remains an extremely opposition group in Egypt, advocating Islamic reform, democratic system and maintaining a vast network of support through Islamic charities working among poor Egyptians.[9]. The political direction it has been taking lately has tended towards more moderate Islamism and Islamic Democracy, somewhat more anti-Western than and a degree to right of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party.

Its like she has some version of Stockholm syndrome where she becomes emotionally involved with her son’s killers. She just can’t get enough of helping the very people who are directly responsible for her son’s death.

Or, in a more cynical view, she is an attention hound who is cashing in on her loss...
