JOHN MCCAIN AND Barack Obama swept the Chesapeake Primaries, as expected. With his victories last night, McCain further solidified his status as the almost-certain nominee of his party. Obama, meanwhile, has taken a lead among delegates to the Democratic convention and is now arguably the frontrunner.
With the outcomes last night widely expected, aides to both Obama and McCain had plenty of time to craft victory speeches that would reflect their candidate's thinking on the state of the race. And with varying degrees of intensity, both men used that freedom to begin to frame a McCain-versus-Obama general election contest, something that is starting to look more likely than not. If that happens, viewers watching the speeches tonight saw a preview of the coming debate.
McCain, for his part, borrowed extensively from Hillary Clinton's dualist critique of Barack Obama: Hope is no substitute for action, and experience matters.

“McCain, for his part, borrowed extensively from Hillary Clinton’s dualist critique of Barack Obama: Hope is no substitute for action, and experience matters.”
And, Hillary’s critique worked so well, didn’t it?
Clash of the Socialists!! yay
McCain is in big trouble.
Obama = Change
McCain = Grumpy Old Washington Insider
Romney’s “Washington is Broken” message stood a chance.
Unfortunately, the Republican establishment was betting on Hillary.
They lost.
In a society where style triumphs over substance and when the conservative base is demoralized, McCain doesn’t stand a chance. Look for a rout.
Senior citizens
White blue collar males
Hispanics
Jewish voters (Lieberman)
Isn’t it over already?
McCain is a tired, old Washington insider who is out of touch and part of the problem.
Obama is a vibrant, newbbie with charisma, and has only been on the national Wash scene for a year or so.
Obama wins.
The GOP gets smeared in ‘08 big time.
This is one senior citizen vote (in TX) he will not be getting!
That’s why we have to rally around McCain and help him get elected!
I’m not going down that road to Socialism w/ Obama or Hillary without a FIGHT!
Even if McCain isn’t “conservative” enough for you, he’s a darn sight better than either of the alternatives!
Time to UNITE and GET BUSY!
Seems to me I remember about 40 years ago, everyone said that Kennedy was going to be the next President and that Nixon should go away.
There is so much similar these days to what happened 40 years ago. History repeating itself.
“...but his Washington outsider message was weak obviously.”

Yes, particularly with the host of insiders who all lined up behind McCain.
Just wait. It’ll be a much bigger deal in the GE.
McCnutts ego is going to hurt more than just the republican party.
Regards
Who will then? Obama?
If you don’t vote, you’re handing the White House to the democrats!
Is that REALLY what you want to do??
Soros’ money will keep Juan on a respirator just long enough for him to be fresh meat for the DNC in November.
Exactly. There are good strong conservative REpublicans who had planned to run for local office in '08, but withdrew their petitions last week when Romney dropped out, McCain rose, and it became evident Obama was gonna win.(I am serious about this)
Who wants to be a 'down ticket' candidate underneath a tired old, not-too-healthy Washington insider ticket with a cantankerous man like McCain who curses everything, and is half Democrat.
I have never been more demoralized in my 35 year political watching career than I am this week.
So its a slower road to Socialism, right?
Hillary and McCain are both experienced experts at back stabbing.
I'd expect crap like this on a MSNBC headline...
