McCain Signs Up a Bush Fund-Raising Organizer
By ELISABETH BUMILLER
WASHINGTON Senator John McCain began tapping into President Bushs prized political donor base on Tuesday as his campaign announced that Mercer Reynolds, who helped Mr. Bush raise a record $273 million for the 2004 re-election campaign, would be the national finance co-chairman for Mr. McCain.
The development was a major sign that the Republican financial establishment was coalescing around Mr. McCain, who has often been at odds with his own party, particularly conservatives. It also signaled that Mr. Bushs political apparatus was moving into action for Mr. McCain, a onetime insurgent and competitor to Mr. Bush in 2000 who has had a difficult relationship with the president.

In some small way this should help McCain solidify conservative opposition to his campaign.
Mccain the first viet nam vet and pow to be nominated
McCain = Bush = McCain
McCain = McCain :)
And for that I’m proud to stand with him!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOrahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !
With $273 million we can buy them a lollipop.
He’s going to need the money. His Islamic competitor already has a huge stash and will have even more once he puts a stake in the devil-woman’s heart.
mccain knows how to beat people with lots of money and charisma. Romney was a dry run
In some small way this should help McCain solidify populist opposition to his elitist campaign.
By getting libs like you to vote for him? Is that how he does it? Conservatives can't stand that man.
I ain't giving him or the RNC a DIME.
yeah I must be a liberal because I want to win the war against islamofascism, cut spending and reform entitlements.
And, unforntunately for us, NOT the first frickin' RINO POS.
Besides, that's ancient history. Look at he harm he's done his country and party since Vietnam.
Not to mention the fact I think he left some of his SANITY back in Vietnam.
What a GREAT way to fight terrorism - shut down Gitmo, keep our borders wide open, stop using what HAS been a VERY effective interrogation technique (waterboarding), sign on to treaties that weaken our country and put our military personannel at risk, etc.
And, as far as "reform" of any kind, look at his most decidedly anti-1st Amendment campaign financve reform bill, which by the way, he put forward with one of the MOST liberal members of congress - russ feingold (he's also worked in concert with other liberal demonRAT scumbags like kennedy).
He will be MORE of a disaster to our country and party, in the long run, than either dem.
and glowbull warming and amnesty and CFR and closing Gitmo and stopping waterboarding, yeah you and your boy McCnutts are quite the conservatives.
Oh I forgot, your boy prides himself on being against earmarks, his amnesty will be the biggest earmark in history. These amnestied former criminals will go on to destroy the two party system.
Is that what you want McCnutts supporter? To destroy the right wing?
and obama is more conservative?
