Late Update: With 51% reporting, the Associated Press has projected Donna Edwards the winner over Al Wynn — and apparently by a landslide. In Gilchrest's district, Harris leads 41%-35% with 74% of precincts in. No projection has yet been made, but it's not looking good for the incumbent here.

Late Late Update: Harris has been projected the winner over Gilchrest.

That’s one-fourth of the state’s Congressional delagation. It’s significant.

What was Al Wynn’s “sin”?

Wynn’s last two ACU scores were 24 and 20, with a lifetime score of 10. I guess that wasn’t liberal enough for MD.

Harris pulled it off. Wow. Can’t say I expected it.

Too bad for Wynn. The Democrats are moving to the left.

From Wikipedia:

“In 2006, he was challenged in the Democratic primary by community activist Donna Edwards, most recently executive director of the Arca Foundation. Edwards criticized Wynn for his votes to support the Iraq war, repeal of the estate tax, support of the bankruptcy bill of 2005, and of the Bush Administration’s energy bill, arguing that he was too conservative and too closely allied with Republicans. While Wynn was initially heavily favored (he’d won over 80% of the vote in each of the past few elections), Edwards showed surprising strength. Two weeks before the primary, the Washington Post endorsed Edwards.”

This time, Mrs. Edwards had moveon.org support. Republicans ousted an incumbent for a more conservative one and the democrats got rid of an incumbent for a more liberal one.

Before this is over, a lot of incumbents may get sent home.

Will the media cite “polarization” ? They’ll criticize us for displacing the RINO Gilchrest in favor of a Conservative, but they won’t criticize the Democrats for replacing a relatively sane liberal for a shrill Stalinist moonbat.

How rare is it for incumbent MOC to lose in primaries? Let alone two from the same state on the same night.

I was thinking the MD GOP could have some fun by encouraging Al Wynn to switch parties, since they no longer want “moderates” in their party. Kinda like when Rep. Marty Martinez bolted the rodents when they dumped him for being too moderate in CA.

Well,...what does that tell you about their Agenda?

Wynn was undone by Donna Edwards’ incessant charges that he had repeatedly supported special interest legislation. Ideology was a secondary part of it.

IMHO, Barak Obama’s candidacy, particularly his constant repetation of “change” is what ultimately put Edwards over the top.

No offense, m'friend, but surely you must know that the phrase ''Stalinist moonbat'' is, at minimum, redundant.

;^)

Edwards’ voting record, if she wins the general, will probably look like Cynthia Mckinney’s.

Most of the time, it’s very rare. Either ethics charges or redistricting are the main causes of it.

I don’t know. I only picked it because it was the first I could find to report this story.

That’s one of the bluest districts in the country, though.
