"...mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicle..."

I had a $1,500 Burberry trench coat, back in the mid-80s, which was "rain resistant", but it got wet eventually and so did my Brooks Bros suit and I.

"Rain/water proof" would have been nicer.

Is there such a thing as a "mine proof" ambulance? Just curious...

Negative. The largest IED's can destroy an M1A2 Abrams main battle tank.
