John McCain funded by Soros since 2001

Candidate's Reform Institute also accepted funds from Teresa Kerry

As Sen. John McCain assumes the GOP front-runner mantle, his long-standing, but little-noticed association with left-wing donors such as George Soros and Teresa Heinz Kerry is receiving new attention among his Republican critics.

In 2001, McCain founded the Alexandria, Va.-based Reform Institute as a vehicle to receive funding from George Soros' Open Society Institute and Teresa Heinz Kerry's Tides Foundation and several other prominent non-profit organizations.

McCain used the institute to promote his political agenda and provide compensation to key campaign operatives between elections.

In 2006, the Arizona senator was forced to sever his formal ties with the Reform Institute after a controversial $200,000 contribution from Cablevision came to light. McCain solicited the donation for the Reform Institute using his membership on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission, he supported Cablevision's push to introduce the more profitable al la carte pricing, rather than packages of TV programming.

Yes, Medved jumped on the McCain train when it was cool (in January) and now he’s stuck.

He’s in favor of smaller government, tax beef cuts, and crushing our enemies.

"At this point, I’d like to encourage everyone to vote for my very conservative dog, Spike. He’s a great Jack Russell Terrier. He would never screw us like McCain surely will. At most, he’d ask for is dog treat in every pot. He’s in favor of smaller government, tax cuts, and crushing our enemies."

I have two mini dachshunds. Oscar can be VP & Buck can be Secretary of State!!

That’s it dammit. Republicans need a nation-wide protest. We need to get off our rears, stop typing on keyboards in rage and start marching and protesting.

Hmm. If true, it's not surprising. He's a globalist, just like Soros. Most of them are globalist RINO's, except you know who. I'm still waiting for people to wake up.

My Jack Russell, Cookie, would be happy to consider the VP spot. Her only requirements in life are a super sturdy Kong doggie toy, a warm inviting lap, and beef jerkey as far as the eye can see.

Romney got out way too soon. He should’ve stayed in until at least after March 4th primaries. I have a feeling McCain would’ve bled to political death. Unfortunately, there’s nobody left to pick up the pieces right now (sorry Hucksters).

Looks like my little dachsie Oscar has some competition for the VP spot.

Let's run a clean campaign...he's a conservative!!

In the 2005 filing, I noticed the following:

• A contribution of $713K, still anonymous.

• The mission of the group was changed from wanting “participation in elections” (rough quote from memory) to now supporting the mission I posted earlier (Climate Change, Immigration, Campaign Finance).

• Richard Davis being replaced as President on 12/16 by Amo Houghton of Alexandria, VA. Two additional directors added: Cheryl Perrin and Charlie Kolb. (Compensation “NONE” for all three)

• Two employees noted at $52K/$63K, respectively: Crystal Lee Benton, Communications Director. Winifred Walsh Strzelecki, Field Director.

• Listed as “Prof Serv.”: Caplin and Drysdale, “Legal Services,” $51,523 and John Raidt, “Consulting” $143,000 (P.O. box in Arlington, VA)

• Same statement included regarding non-disclosure of an “anonymous” donor.

• They put $375K of their donation into stock: SHS Coca-Cola Company for a sweet $19K short-term gain.

Without a subscription, I can’t view anything earlier than 2003. I could only view 2003, 2004, and 2005. Nothing more current is included on Guidestar:

The dirty secret is that the media will not report.

There is no way that either men will have enough delegates before the convention, if Huck stays in and Romney keeps his delegates and doesn't endorse McCain.

I wonder what their activities were, aside from paying salaries to some deadweight?

Well, Davis got a heft salary at first. He was cut back to $45K in this filing (2005). Perhaps that was after the Cablevision thing hit the news?

As to what they do, I don't know. Prior to 2005's filing, they had a few computers and printers listed on their asset list--nothing extravagant. The first software they got was Quick-books but there is not indication that they deal in extensive accounting. Their other software was File-Maker Pro, spending over $1300 in 2003 (creating some sort of database? For what?). In this 2005 filing, they dropped some money on more office furniture, more computers, their own server ($5K) . They seem to have picked up the pace on something. They also broke down and bought MS Office.
