Candidate's Reform Institute also accepted funds from Teresa Kerry
As Sen. John McCain assumes the GOP front-runner mantle, his long-standing, but little-noticed association with left-wing donors such as George Soros and Teresa Heinz Kerry is receiving new attention among his Republican critics.
In 2001, McCain founded the Alexandria, Va.-based Reform Institute as a vehicle to receive funding from George Soros' Open Society Institute and Teresa Heinz Kerry's Tides Foundation and several other prominent non-profit organizations.
McCain used the institute to promote his political agenda and provide compensation to key campaign operatives between elections.
In 2006, the Arizona senator was forced to sever his formal ties with the Reform Institute after a controversial $200,000 contribution from Cablevision came to light. McCain solicited the donation for the Reform Institute using his membership on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission, he supported Cablevision's push to introduce the more profitable al la carte pricing, rather than packages of TV programming.

There were photos in today’s St. Pete Times. Lindsey Graham, Juan McCain and Charlie Crist were standing on McCain’s balconey and the photog shot it from behind. All their behinds. Lindsey had the biggest “blank” in the picture. Maybe this is on google by now.

Stifling the www? Online Freedom of Speech Act (H.R. 1606)
"1606 is needed because federal courts have ordered the Federal Election Commission to regulate "electioneering communications" on the Internet because of the Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act (McCain-Feingold). If H.R. 1606 fails to become law, your Web site or blog could be shut down for the 30 days prior to a primary election and the 60 days prior to a general election should you express "electioneering communications."

Isn’t he a McCainiac?
There isn’t anything new here. I’ve had four links to McCain’s Soros connections that I’ve been posting repeatedly for months.
At this point, I’d like to encourage everyone to vote for my very conservative dog, Spike. He’s a great Jack Russell Terrier. He would never screw us like McCain surely will. At most, he’d ask for is dog treat in every pot. He’s in favor of smaller government, tax cuts, and crushing our enemies.

Why Did McCain Resign From The Reform Institute?
Michelle Malkin has the low down on McCain’s indisputable ties to the Reform Institute. Ironic that Moveon.org funding Soros supported the group that helped McCain champion Campaign Finance Reform, which Soros took advantage of almost immediately after passage. But why did McCain resign as Chair in 2005?
Two years ago, the Associated Press disclosed that CASH Holdings, a Cablevision Systems subsidiary, had contributed $200,000 to the Reform Institute. Two McCain political aides, who also were involved in the Reform Institute, solicited the donations, which were given in $100,000 installments in 2003 and 2004.
It at least appears to be the case that McCain may have resigned due to conflicts of interest given his role as Chairman of the Commerce Committee. Didn’t he just brag on that in last night’s debate? Is this what the New York Times may be holding until the general election, assuming the candidate they endorsed is in the race? A bunch of lobbyists dropped cash in the Reform Institute, too.
McCain, long a proponent of a la carte pricing, urged federal regulators in May 2004 to support the idea, quoting Dolan’s testimony before the Commerce Committee in May 2003. McCain denied there was any conflict of interest. Federal campaign records examined by U.S. News show that Cablevision Systems’ pac gave $10,000 to McCain’s Senate re-election committee in February 2003just a month before the senator urged other cable companies, in writing, to follow Cablevision’s lead on a la carte pricing. Shortly after the AP story, McCain stepped down as chairman of the Reform Institute’s advisory board in March 2005.
As for the Reform Institute, a lobbyist who knows McCain well says bluntly: “The Reform Institute is McCain’s Achilles heel.” Engaging in political activity would have violated the institute’s tax-exempt status, but McCain, campaign aides, and institute officials all deny that the organization has played any role in promoting his presidential candidacy.
Pretty appropriate!! The 3 stooges are all Asses!!
