Just floating an idea. The last President that was a Senator was LBJ. He kind of won in 64 cause the Nation was still in morning so he got that one by default.

Not a McCain supporter, but do you think the reason they have such a difficult time with their “baggage?” Their voting record in the house of compromise?

Actually, Kennedy was one of the few Presidents whose only public service was as a U.S. Senator. Johnson previously served as VP; Nixon also went from Senator to VP to President. There are very few Presidents who have not served as either: State Governor, Vice President, or Military General or Cabinet Member.

Lincoln was perhaps the least qualified in terms of prior public service. He served one term as a Congressman from Illinois.

Senators rarely win. Unfortunately it seems inevitable this year.
