On Saturday night the 9th of February, two brothers 19 and 8 year old, Rami and Osher Twito, borrowed their mother's credit card to go to the Sderot ATM machine to buy after shave lotion as a birthday present for their father.
Within moments, they were lying next to each other in a pool of blood on a Sderot side walk.
Pieces of their legs scattered on the street. One of Oshers legs was immediately severed.
Oshers second leg was shattered. Rami and Osher were running for their lives after they heard the RED COLOR siren. They didnt have enough time to run for the shelter which was 100 meters away, knowing that they only had 15 seconds until the kassam missile would explode.
Tens of Sderots residents ran to help the boys. Then another siren went off, and they all ran for the shelter once again.. A few minutes later, a few residents started to scream to the crowd :
Lets go block the streets!! They started chanted: We want a military solution!
We want the army to do whats right and to fight the enemy!
There was utter despair on the peoples faces - helplessness of the fathers and mothers carrying their children.
What a Sabbath in Sderot, with 40 missile attacks fired at Sderot.
Thinking about Friday night. Sitting at a Sabbath dinner with the Gad Family. Hava Gad is the Sderot Parents Association spokeswoman A siren was fired while the soup was being served.
The whole family took cover in their hall way, which is the safest place in the house.
The missile fell across the street. A boom rocked the house. Hava collapsed. Tzfania her husband , a reserve military officer, leaned over Hava, calming her down. Their 9 year old son- Yanai played his own role supporting with his mother, calming her down,
A few seconds later another explosion. And then another one It quiets down and everyone returned to the Sabbath table
And then another missile attack. Tsfania opened the back door for their puppy to hide for shelter in their hall way.
Hava, bent over eve more than before, said that she is going to throw up. Tsfania holds her tight
Yanai, once again comforting his mother, mentions, matter of factly, that on Friday morning a missile exploded in the soccer field next to their school, and that they were lucky that they werent allowed to go out, for security reasons
As the meal finished, the children played games on the floor, and then, an enormous explosion
This time, Hava screamed and collapsed on the floor, shivering Tsfania went to the other room to get her a pill, and asked her if he should call an ambulance to evacuate her.
Yaani again hugged and kissed her, telling her that it fell a blocks away from here and that there is nothing to worry about Yaani looked up and said that they should learn medicine in school, for cases like these A fourth grader who sees himself as a paramedic at the age of nine.
Walking the streets of Sderot on the Sabbath afternoon, to get a feeling about what people are going through, a few brave children went out to play in the sunny beautiful day.
Every group of children had something had something to do with the rocket reality
A four year old, mumbling while playing next to the synagogue- Tseva Adom, Tseva Adom RED COLOR RED COLOR
And then there was the nearby Sderot Ethiopian community , where children were arguing with each other , debating , which school was hit more by the rockets Children were playing with toys, throwing them up to the air, and yelling- A Kassam! and then make a noise of an explosion
Watching these children, you think of the recent statement from Dr Roni Beger from Natal Trauma Treatment Center, that anywhere between 70%- 94% of the children in Sderot now suffer from PTS- Post Traumatic Stress Symptoms.
Dr. Adrianna Katz, head of the Sderot Mental Health Center, notes that most of these
Children are going to be affected for life
And then there was the perspective of the experts
Dr. Reuven Ehrlich, the head of Intelligence and Terror Information Center, visited Sderot last week and reported that over 8,000 missile attacks had occurred over the past seven years
Tzachi Hanegbi, chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, last Tuesday requested ten minutes of air time on the Voice of Israel Radio newsreel, where he demanded that the Israeli army kill the terrorists who give the orders to fire the missiles not only the missile launchers. In other words, to kill Gazas political leaders who meet every Saturday afternoon for their weekly meeting, where they decide where and when to terrorize Jews.
For some reason, HaNegbis suggestion has not been picked up.
At the same, time, at least 800 homes here in Sderot have no protected rooms where someone can take cover during a missile attack. Prime Minister Olmert has vetoed the offer of a private philanthropist to fund to install these protected rooms. Why? Olmert's office does not answer as to why he places 800 families in a life threatening situation in their own homes
Yet the unkindest cut of all came from Washington.
On Thursday, the US State Department issued a strong statement to warn Israel to show concern for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. A call placed on Friday to the US embassy to ask whether the US State Department would issue a statement about the humanitarian crisis in Sderot and the Western Negev went unanswered.
Meanwhile, not one Jewish group and not one human rights organization issued a single statement of protest or horror about our city under siege.
Meanwhile, from our Glorious State Department
Monday, February 11, 2008 (From IMRA) [Absence of Israeli thinking]U.S. pushes Israel to accept proposed Egypt border deal
[Dr. Aaron lerner - IMRA: So far it appears that the Olmert-Barak-Livni team has not prepared any serious recommendation of its own. As Likud MK Yuval Steinitz has pointed out on numerous occasions, if the Egyptians were serious about stopping the smuggling on the border they could bulldoze a no man's land of several kilometers depth and maintain a serious ongoing check on trucks moving into the area across the extremely few roads that cross into the area. Neither of these actions requires increasing the size of the force it already has.]
U.S. pushes Israel to accept proposed Egypt border deal By Barak Ravid and Avi Issacharoff, Haaretz Correspondents Last update - 04:55 11/02/2008 www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/953151.html
The U.S. administration is urging Israel to engage Egypt in immediate dialogue in order to find a joint solution to the problem of the breached Gaza-Egypt border. The U.S. wants Israel to show some flexibility on Egypt's demand to add 750 soldiers to its border force, as well as to agree to Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad's proposal to take over responsibility for the Israel-Gaza Strip border.
Assistant U.S. Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Welch visited Egypt, Israel and the Palestinian Authority last week and held talks on the situation in the Gaza Strip. In Israel he met with Yoram Turbowicz and Shalom Turjeman, advisers to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, as well as defense and foreign ministry officials. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is expected to visit the region herself shortly.
Welch briefed Israeli officials on his meetings with Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman and Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit. Welch said that the breaching of the wall by Hamas has led to a significant change in Egypt's attitude toward the situation in the Gaza Strip in general and the border in particular. He told his Israeli counterparts that the Egyptians are now more ready than ever to cooperate in order to change the situation at the border as well as combat smuggling there. Welch said the Egyptians' recent anti-Hamas statements show that they now feel that the problem has become theirs, too.
Welch said that Israel should talk to Egypt about Cairo's desire to double its border force, which he said would serve both Israeli and Egyptian interests.
According to Welch, the new situation at the border has created an opportunity to find a more comprehensive solution to smuggling and other issues related to the Rafah border crossing. He called for the urgent convention of a four-way security summit attended by Israel, Egypt, the PA and the U.S. to end the crisis.
Welch told Israeli officials about progress on the extension of U.S. aid to Egypt to fight smuggling at the border. He said the U.S. and Egypt agreed on the introduction of various technological measures to locate smuggling tunnels, which will be provided to Egypt in the near future.
Another issue discussed during the talks was the operation of the border crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip. The U.S. supports Fayyad's proposal to assume responsibility for the Karni and Sufa crossings. Welch told his Israeli interlocutors that he believed that Israel must reach an understanding with Fayyad on the issue.
The head of the Palestinian negotiating team, Ahmed Qureia, said that Rice will return to the region shortly in an effort to restart the talks between Israel and the PA in the West Bank. Qureia said that the negotiations had not begun in earnest between the parties, which have only presented their positions.
Fayyad is scheduled to meet in Washington with Rice as part of a visit to the U.S. aimed at expediting the transfer of U.S. aid to the PA.
The Bush Doctrine: You are either for us, or for the terrorists--I guess our State Department is for the Terrorists.
Every nation has an inherent right to defend itself against aggressors — except for Israel.
Beyond enraging. I can't post here what I feel about this situation. I want blood.
Do they need some guidance from US Marines or US Rangers? I can’t figure out why Israel permits this to happen. As far as Israel having to follow the guidance of the US State Department, Senator Fulbright stated that Israel has 52 votes in the US Senate.
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
It’ll work because for precisely that reason.
It’ll work for precisely that reason.
Then it would be an even simpler process to raze that area to the ground.
The deal should be this. For every one rocket that hits Israel, 10 artillery shells will hit the launch site without regard for any other factor.
And I do like the idea about killing the 'political leadership' who are ordering these strikes. Put a Hellfire up their butts some Saturday morning.

If the White House was in Sderot, would President Bush stand for this? The State Dept. and Rice disgust me right now. They can’t deny taking an active role in this terrorism when they are funding it with our tax dollars.
I wonder if they’d take gentile irregulars, former military, who could come in and be an Israeli version of the French Foreign Legion.
I’d leave after we were done; I fully recognize who God said owned the land of Israel.
They must smite the jihadists wherever they are to be found..
Olmert recently decided to cut Gaza’s electricity by one percent.
For Olmert, that ranks as an extreme act of courage.
General Sherman, Teddy Roosevelt, Ben Gurion, or Begin, would have known that it was their responsibility to defend their own people.
And they wouldn’t have apologized to anyone for doing it, either.
If it turns out that Olmert has been negotiating secretly with the PA over dividing Jerusalem, then Shas and some of the other parties may leave the government, which FINALLY will bring about Olmert’s downfall.
I’m sure there will be no dry eyes in the State Dept.
Because Olmert is taking his orders from the State Department. Sickening, isn’t it?
To some degree, I agree. Why doesn’t Israel have UAV’s, even armed ones doing realtime survaillence? Hit the rockets as they set up.
