Chinese requiring loyalty from olympians?

And the Chinese government, rattled by the possibility of public criticism from Olympians, has been applying crude pressure to the international community to keep quiet.

"If at each Olympics people stood up and used politics to attack the host nation, where does that leave the Olympic spirit?" argued the official newspaper, The People's Daily, last month.

This idea that to criticise totalitarianism is a breach of the Olympic spirit is as wretched a perversion of logic as even the Nazis ever attempted.

We never seem to learn histories’s lessons. The British Olympic Association, with this attempt to appease China, is just a very long continuation of the Elitist Left making nice with dictators, tyrants, and terrorists in the fatally flawed belief that their appeasement conduct will cause these evil people to leave them alone. The fact is, these dictators and terrorists accurately perceive Western Leftists with contempt. By being "willing idiots", their effetist conduct will perhaps enable them to be the last one’s to be executed or imprisoned. Guess in their eyes that’s something to aspire to...
