There was a show on The History Channel a while back about Scottish buildings. They showed some of the marks and simply said they were the stonemason's signature.

Makes sense to me.

Probably they were very similar to the use of maker’s marks on silver.

LOL! My Dad’s a Freemason, although he may not remember it by now. I just pinged a couple of people I thought might be interested in this, whether it’s really “Masonic” related or just stoneworkers.

Freemasonry, definitely part of “Mystery Babylon,” Revelation chapter 17. Their symbols are loaded with hidden meaning. The square and compass, for instance. Outwardly, mason’s tools, operative in nature, however, they have esoteric meaning.

No doubt, same thing with these mason marks they left on these buildings. Having an esoteric meaning known only to the “craft.”

This is not mystery.

I am a “Mark Mason.”

I think it’s a great idea. Too bad the knowlege of these great builders was lost to begin with.

Thanks Blam.

My apologies, all -- in my rush to get the Digest #186 done, I managed to omit two topics of last week. Rather than wait until next week to include them, I'll post a revised edition, and plaster the link to it in one of these messages (and take care of the Digest list members separately). Sorry for the stupidity.

To all -- please ping me to other topics which are appropriate for the GGG list.
