The key word is closed system. The earth is not a closed system.
"Entropy" is defined as a measure of unusable energy within a closed or isolated system (the universe for example).
The universe as an example? Could you give another one?
The issue isn't closed v. open systems, as Dr. John Ross of Harvard University states below:
there are no known violations of the second law of thermodynamics. Ordinarily the second law is stated for isolated systems, but the second law applies equally well to open systems. There is somehow associated with the field of far-from-equilibrium thermodynamics the notion that the second law of thermodynamics fails for such systems. It is important to make sure that this error does not perpetuate itself. (John Ross, Chemical and Engineering News, July 7, 1980, p. 40; cited in Duane Gish, Creation Scientists Answer their Critics Institute for Creation Research, 1993. Return to text.)
The real point here is that there are mountains of evidence and proof that the universe and this big beautiful world with its innumerable trillions of intricacies, is the product of intelligent design. Intelligent design points to the existence of an intelligent Creator. Evolution on the other hand has no such proof or evidence. It contradicts both common sense and reality as well as known scientific law. It has not stood the test of rigorous objective scientific inquiry and method and should be discarded as fact.
