We need one page of these that are fronts and, one page of these for the backs, that we can print and cut, to fill the prepaid envelopes from the RNC and the ACU.

There will be a price to pay for supporting McCain.

We can vote conservative on Senate and House primary seats, and vote for anyone other than McCain one the Presidential seat, including a democrat in the general election.

A good speech. The people watching here were very distracting, though. It looked like they all needed a potty break they were swaying back and forth so much.

I just listened to her. She did not back down on her criticism of McCain.

I’m not a McCain hater. But here’s rational “liberal” Mickey Kaus’ take on McCain’s CPAC speech. Although he’s teased for being a friend of Coulter, tell me if he (and she) doesn’t have a point.

Some grounds for skepticism about McCain’s CPAC Suckup:

1) He pledges to appoint “judges of the character and quality of Justices Roberts and Alito.” [E.A.] “Character and quality”? What about legal ideology? John Paul Stevens arguably has the “character and quality” of Roberts and Alito. He’s just a legal liberal. Is there any chance that McCain will appoint someone who would curtail campaign finance reform on First Amendment grounds?

2) McCain said that “only after we achieved widespread consensus that our borders are secure” would he pursue the semi-amnesty part of his immigration reform. This non-trivial concession would be more reassuring if proponents of that reform didn’t righteously claim a ‘widespread consensus’ in its favor in 2006 and 2007. ( “[A]national consensus has formed around what the president calls ‘comprehensive’ immigration reform.”—Fred Barnes, May, 2006.)

3) McCain said he had “respect” for opponents of his immigration plan (which he didn’t renounce) “for I know that the vast majority of critics to the bill based their opposition in a principled defense of the rule of law.” Not like those others who base their opposition on bigoted yahoo nativism! McCain’s semi-conciliatory words aren’t what you say when you really respect your opposition—then you say “I know we have honest disagreements.” Not “I know most of you aren’t really racists.” Even his suckup betrayed how he really feels. Which I suspect is sneering contempt! (See his former campaign manager and informal adviser Mike Murphy, who—writing under cover of a pseudonym—likened Tom Tancredo to the “Bund”!). ....

Ann is taking a very interesting tack here. She is “siding” with Hillary, yet compares her to Stalin and calls her speeches worse than waterboarding. “She’d enjoy torture.” Ann will certainly NOT help Hillary and she knows it.

She certainly excoriates McCain too, saying the only way she’d vote for him is for him to go back in time and change his support for McCain Feingold, opposition to tax cuts, etc. etc.

She also says she’d vote for McCain in 2012 if he takes conservative positions and nominates conservative judges—but she regards it as so unlikely (both getting elected and changing his spots) that she agreed to marry the questioner who proposed that hypothetical situation.

She also compares Huckabee to Jimmy Swaggert—”I like their supporters”, and calling him a fraud.

So what is her goal? I believe she wants to provoke conservatives into action to 1) pull out a last minute victory; 2) run a 3rd party candidate. She enthusiastically supported this position. 3) prepare to run in 2012.

Myself, I still think McCain will be less harmful to the country than Hillary, so I’ll vote for him.

I see, CPAC filled with RINOs, the Coulter speech filled with republicans.. This event is telling of the political climate and foretells the main election.. i.e. CPAC and the RNC threw an election and little or nobody showed up..
