Right. My first reaction when I read that statement was that 37 year-old Angie Vazquez was quite an ingrate for a STUDENT in a public school.
Back in Crown Heights, Mr. Waronker says he occasionally finds himself on the other side of a quizzical look, with his Hasidic neighbors wondering why he is devoting himself to a Bronx public school instead of a Brooklyn yeshiva. Were all connected, he responds.
Gesturing in his school at a class full of students, he said, I feel the hand of the Lord here all the time.
I wonder what would Jesus have done, had he been a teacher in the 21st century in the United States?

To All:
As education articles appear, please ping me. ( Yes, I know that I might get several duplicate pings, but this is OK.)
After **many** requests to have my name added to SoftballmominVA’s list, I consistently do not get her pings.
I am still convinced that Softballmom is a woman of integrity and there nothing personal is going on here. I am convinced that as a government school teacher she couldn’t possibly have a single petty bone in her body, and is the model of perfect equanimity not only with her students but with non-students as well.
Perhaps she has an explanation. This post was pinged on 2/08/08. Hopefully, by now, she has corrected the problem.
We should all remember that sometimes actions do speak louder than words.

Actually, if you found where SoftballMom pinged the list, you should have found her explanation:
I'm out of town for a few days and so am away from the real list. So if you are supposed to be on or off and you're not, I apologize.
That said, I, along with many others, am getting extremely tired of your comments about public school teachers, which range from snarky (as above) to frankly insulting, as when you question the faith of Christian teachers.
I do not think the Lord has given you the job of judging the faith of others.
Your comments have in large part contributed to the vitriolic atmosphere on public school threads, which recently resulted in one thread being moved to the Smoky Backroom.
If you can't tone it down, I will refuse to ping you to the Public School list, and I'll encourage SoftballMom & Gabz to do the same.
I realize that refusing to ping you won't keep you from finding the threads on your own, but I'm not going to encourage or assist your flame-baiting.
