Persons of African origin, South Asian origin, Pacific Islander origin, Chinese, etc ~ origin ~ just about everybody but those of European origin, are able to be infected by leprosy.

Europeans have what appears to be a genetic near immunity to the stuff. Doesn't mean you can't get it, but it's going to take a lot of exposure and special conditions.
