"average Brit consumer"

It takes a lot of saving that's what. My Brit in-laws pay double for just about everything you can name. After a visit to our house a few years ago, one Brit bro-in-law took advantage of our neighbors generosity and curiosity (we live a block away from a neighborhood airstrip), and received a lot of free flights during his stay. He was all enthusiastic about getting his pilots license when he returned to England. But the cost of flying lessons in Britain was so prohibitive, he had to give up his dream.

Practically everything major they buy they must save years for. Plus they must purchase a separate license for all tvs. However they never complain about high costs, and are excellent at saving money.

‘Practically everything major they buy they must save years for.’

Oh bollocks.

Britain has been a ‘buy now, pay later’ society since the 70’s and in fact we are spending so much up front our money experts are predicting a huge bust in the British economy, with rising debt and house reposessions.

Apologies, and its not personal, but some of the ‘facts’ I read about Britain and how the British people live from Americans are either way off or just myths.
