Leprosy is caused by a particular bacteria ~ at the same time almost all Caucasions have tremendous natural resistance to it ~ a genetic immunity.
Other groups are at risk of catching it under specific conditions.
That's why I'm surprised it's in NW Arkansas anywhere other than the large Vietnamese population settled there.
