To: Constitution Day

There are lots of Pacific Islanders who have moved to the US, and I expect that they tend to group together. (I knew somebody whose husband was from Tonga, and there was a large community of them in town.)

There’s some sort of treaty that relaxes immigration laws for Pacific Islanders. Many of the homeless in Hawaii aren’t even Hawaiian, for example, they’re from other pacific countries.

To be fair, legal immigrants from the early 1900s banded together as well.

This is why places such as Red Lodge, MT, in the coal mining region, had a ‘Festival of Nations’ the entire time I was growing up and had a 100% Italian grandmother and a 100% Austrian grandfather who lived their entire lives there.
