I'm 41. My vote isn't going to be annihilated - when a child is born, I rejoice, I don't mourn that my vote is being annihilated. My finances are not going to be annihilated - they rest on my own usefulness to other people and my own prudence savings and investing.
And yes I find all the yellow peril retread nonsense a joke. The political effects of one US voter in ten changing their mind about which party they can trust on national security, is the difference between Jimmy Carter and a Reagan II landslide. The American people are free and sovereign and in charge of their own destiny, politically and otherwise.

psssst, terrorist came into this country on 911 [they all aren't in Iraq]. Can you, or any of us, say with any degree of certainty more have NOT come in? Who exactly is crossing our borders, and how many "really" are there crossing? McCain is the rep of a border state. Why should I trust him with Iraq when he hasn't dealt with his own state's issues?
Besides, what kind of leader has to bus in people to support him at a Conservative convention? (Republican use to be synomonous with conservative.) If he can't take the boo's, he needs to step out of the limelight.

Time to just swallow our anger and Move ON.. I reckun
That tired old defeatist thinking has been a loser every time. Most recently in 2006. The GOP establishment is learning the conservative grassroots people are no longer falling for the old hold your nose and vote for the lesser of two evils garbage. It is coming back to haunt the GOP.

John McCain has a rating of 82%
That vague statement lacks any credibility without more detail. This arbitrary statistic comes from the American Conservative Union. Anyone or group can quote figures based on very subjective criteria and present them as fact. Since you consider the ACU rating as gospel with respect to McCain then here are a few more facts from the
American Thinker.
First, a rating of 82.3 is not really that high. It puts Senator McCain in 39th place among senators serving in 2006, the latest year for which the ACU has its ratings posted online. For that most recent year in particular, McCain scored only 65, putting him in 47th place for that year. Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Chuck Hagel (R-NE), for example, scored 64 and 75, respectively, in 2006.
Generally, McCain has voted less conservatively in more recent years. His average for 1990-97 was 88, but was only 74 for 1998-2006.
Also consider he is supported by Joe Lieberman who has only a 16.8% ACU rating. A rating that low tells you LIEberman is far more a Socialist than Conservative. If the ACU factored that stat into their arbitrary rating then suddenly McCain's ACU life time rating is much lower than your's and Reagan's 82%.
John McCain is right on the terror war.
John McCain's war on terror couldn't be weaker and more dangerous. The war on terror extends beyond Afghanistan and Iraq. It includes our borders with Mexico and Canada. It is a fact terrorists have entered and are entering this country to destroy us from within. Jon McCain still wants to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. His position imperils American lives.

McCain will make a fine President. I cant stand to see people unfairly drill him over and over because he does not walk the party. Is that how it is ? My way or the highway ? that is shamefull I agree with you. I'm getting very tired of those who continue to call John McCain a traitor and worse and proudly crow that they would never vote for him. These are the same dopes who gave the congress to the democrats in 2006. Principles, don'cha know and all that. They are like a child who, upon not getting what he wanted, sits in the corner with his lower lip out, playing with his poop, expecting sympathy.

what is the most important issue of our time ? The issue that McCain talks about and Democrats avoid ?The fight against inlamic terrorism. Both from without and, very soon, from within. If we lose that, none of the other issues matters.

I think about the speech Ronald Reagan gave at the 1964 convention. I wish someone would give a speech like that now ?
Every other issue doesnt matter much unless we realize that we are in a war that needs to be won.

Sadly, no one is listening...
I hate to say it, and it will fall on deaf ears anyway...but in Australia we vote for the Party. We may not particularly like the Leader who stands for the Party as candidate for Prime Minister, but we vote for him anyway.
The Prime Minister is that and nothing more. He never becomes a subject of worship nor a celebrity...and when, whoever he is, has been around a little too long, the small percentage of voters in the middle-ground turn around and change their vote to the Opposition.
We rarely argue about it. Life goes on.

Most republicans are seething..
Others are wondering if they are republicans(anymore) at all.. The Party has "moved on" to uncharted ground.. It could be most/many republicans are "something else" rather than republicans.. It appears the "party" has been penetrated by socialists and other liberals.. No doubt many are re-thinking their options.. at a base level.. I know I am..

I know this may sound like a novel idea to many but how about voting for a Conservative?
