What a sad story and a brave woman and a good husband.
She engaged in risky behavior, something we all do from time to time, but she lost the roll of the dice. It was a calculated risk but certainly not the same as double-parking on a highway or interstate. Im sorry it happened and I applaud her spunky attitude. I hope the whole family has blessings up the wazoo.

I am sorry it happened as well.. it points both to the preciousness of life and the cavalier attitude others have towards it.. the cavalier piece is not directed at you but at the driver.. it also reinforces how deeply this nation is being affected by illegals whether the newspapers and media want to report it or not.. or our politicians will acknowledge it as such..
This time last year I chose to support Hunter for this very reason. We are in a long war because of the obscene acts of murder and hatred perpetrated upon us on 9-11. The WOT is important and I supported the action and the troops. Yet, for one to say the WOT is the most important issue is very short-sighted and signals to me they are not paying attention.
Since 9-11, the illegal invasion from our Southern border has claimed the lives of 55,000 American citizens. When do we go to war against these invaders? Half of that number is vehicular manslaughter and the other half just outright murder. How do politicians sleep at night? Where do they find the unmitigated gall to disregard these facts and do nothing?
Are we still a nation of laws. Are we still a government of the people or just a government of PC leftists and Wall St? Am I the only one left who gives a damn? Any American whose blood is not boiling is either severely apathetic, ignorant or both. The GOP electorate has insured this issue will for all intents and purposes be taken off the table with their votes.
They were star-struck by incompetent movie actors, dazzled by aesthetically pleasing millionaires, duped by Hucksters and beguiled by a NY liberal. The sheeple allowed themselves to be led by poll and pundit, to the vindictive and arrogant little man who will soon lead them to the slaughter. They concerned themselves only with well delivered speeches filled with lies and flattering words. Their concern was “electability”, “beat Hillary” and “stop Rudy”. Except for beating Hillary all have come to fruition. The electorate has the monster they wanted, they created. Let us now see if they can control their creation. Over a year ago, it was my contention that if Hunter wasn’t elected in 2008; The demographics will have changed in such a way that 2012 won’t matter. Well, not if you are a conservative it won’t. This is one of those times when one hopes and prays to be wrong.

Do we know for a fact that the perp is illegal? This article doesn’t mention his status that I found.
Thanks for the ping. Hooray Lilian Clark! Thanks for the links, nicmarlo. Thanks to every contributor to this thread.
yw PGalt.
Prayers up again, for this woman and her family...and for God’s intervention in this whole mess....I would not have one more American or legal citizen die or become yet another victim at the hands of illegals....it surely seems that only a miracle can bring that about.
Damn straight. GTHOOMC
Remember that widely advertised/discussed story of the illegal who helped the American kid in the desert last year?
Well, of the past 10 or so illegal alien DUI accident stories I’ve read about, in around 8 of them, the guy bailed and left the injured for dead.
ICE is looking into it. Here's an updated article.
Immigration hold placed on driver in injury crash
Victim lost both legs from crash; husband founded Napa's Minuteman chapter
By Marsha Dorgan
Napa Valley Register
Saturday, February 09, 2008
Excerpts:
Federal immigration officials have asked that Napa authorities hold without bail the man charged with felony DUI and hit and run in an east Napa accident that resulted in the amputation of a woman's legs above the knee.
Francisco Pacheco, 24, is in Napa County jail on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold. ICE seeks holds on criminal suspects who the agency believes may be in the United States illegally. Such holds may result in deportation.
In 2006, John Clark started a Napa-based chapter of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps, a group that has observed border patrols and advocated more strict enforcement of immigration laws. He said his inspiration to form the group stemmed from the three-year effort he went through to legally bring Lilian, then his fiancé, to the United States from her native Chile.
