We are beginning to see signs that Mitt Romney might be preparing to pull out of the Republican race.
Everyone is looking for tea leaves from the campaign, and we'll know more about the governor's state of mind when we hear from him at CPAC today. But in the last 24 hours, I have noticed a dramatic drop-off in the number of emails I have received from Team Romney. This is no small thing. Every reporter will tell you they receive reams of emails from the Romney campaign. But the last one I got was at 1:47 p.m. yesterday, advising me of Romney's campaign schedule in Maryland. Before that, I last received on at 8:37 a.m., advising me of Romney's CPAC speech.
Normally in that time period, I would have received lots of emails telling me, among other things, that John McCain's Straight Talk Express had taken a detour. For example, I would have expected to receive one about McCain's "calm down" remark. But nothing from the Romney camp. I wondered whether the campaign is dialing back its aggressiveness in preparation for a Romney withdrawal. . . .

I am so disgusted with the entire process this year. We haven’t even voted yet in Ohio. I never had a chance to vote for Thompson, or Giuliani, or Romney. What is left for us is McCain and Huckabee — no thank you!! I am not even going to vote in the primaries because there is no one to vote for! I will never vote for McCain - ever. Now that the Democrats know that they can take complete control of the candidates by having all of the voting spaced out, they will never change it. All states should vote on the same day - just as in the presidential election. This was so effective this year at determining the Republican candidate that the media and the Democrats wanted, that there will never be any changes to make it fair for everyone who wants to vote for their chosen candidate.
He’s a business man. Most successful business men know you don’t throw good money after bad.
Reports are he is “suspending” his campaign - he’ll keep the delegates.
He’ll still get my vote on Tuesday.

In a brokered convention, Huck will throw all his delegates to McCain as he did in W. Va. You’ve been HAD. Huck never intended to run for President. He hatched out a conspiracy with the McCainiac early on to deny Romney support in the Bible Belt in return for something - like the Vice Presidency.
The best thing for Romney to do now is withdraw, work hard the next four years to build up his conservative image, support conservative causes, maybe work with Newt Gingrich, and then come back again against the McCainiac in the unlikely event he wins, or against Hillary or Obama.
The Country needs to remember what it was like being ruled by a Peanut Planter who hates America.

“If Huckabee had followed your advice before Super Tuesday and dropped out, McCain would have wrapped up the nomination by now. There is no way Mitt was going to carry states in the deep south like Alabama if he was in a “two-man” race with McCain.”
Cheaters do win sometimes. McCain supporters pushed their voters to Huckabee in Virginina and other states when they saw McCain tanking. Mitt should have gotten those states. A McCain staffer admitted it. That’s the truth - the Huckster should have dropped out along time ago - he was another LIBERAL Perot screwing up votes.
Thanks to the Huckster and his bigotry towards Mormons and Conservativism, the HUMANIST turned heads on false credentials - Huck doesn’t even had a Theology degree - but heck what’s one more lie for the Huckster. A backsliding Baptist like Huck doesn’t care. He’s to busy trying to make this true:

Yes, he can. We’re not wealthy but he can have some of our money. The GOP party can’t have ANY since they are turning into a bunch of LEFTISTS.
That’s all the more troubling. What the Huckster preaches is class ENVY, COVETING what others have, and LYING about his stances. He has turned Christianity into Humanism and the sheeple can’t see the difference - that’s the MOST troubling aspect of the Huckster.

BTW, I would also note that many people thought McCain’s comments tuesday night were very conciliatory about Romney.
And they are both speaking at CPAC today.
I still doubt the rumors I’ve heard, but it would really be funny if McCain chose Romney as his VP pick. Mostly because of how so many people assume it would be Huckabee.
But Romney brings a lot more to the table for McCain than Huckabee does.
McCain already has the south, as his wins in Florida, South Carolina, and Missouri show.
McCain already has the pro-lifers, if not enthusiastic, at least for the most part complacent.
McCain is not apparently good for Dobson, but I don’t see him having serious difficulty with the average socons.
Romney brings all those states where he had organization, where he had large support and McCain did not. He brings the economy — McCain can make him the “economic czar” for the administration, something some people have suggested McCain should announce anyway.
Romney isn’t seen as “conservative” by a lot of people, but all the talk show hosts were screaming about him being so last week, so it would be hard for those same talk show hosts to go back on it now.
McCain may not like Romney, but historically the VP pick has NOT been about who you like. GW Bush wasn’t Reagan’s friend, Gore wasn’t really Clinton’s buddy.
Like I said, I discount the rumor, but understand it, and think it would be a good choice.
And it would explain Romney dropping out now rather than after next tuesday — because Romney already spent all the money for the caucuses (which he usually does well in), and the Romney Virginia team is very strong and probably didn’t need a lot of money or help.
So there is no “monetary” reason to drop out now instead of after seeing how those elections go.
But if he were the VP pick, it would make a LOT of sense to drop out now so that McCain could win those races, and start to look like a majority vote-getter.
Oh, I didn't really need that image.
