McCain Seeks to Sausage Wary Conservatives
San. Fran. Chronicle ^ | Thursday, February 7, 2008 | Joe Garofoli

Posted on 02/07/2008 6:32:01 AM PST by rface

"You can't win the White House just by saying you're not Hillary Clinton," said Jon Fleischman, publisher of the conservative Web site Flashreport.org and a vice chair of the California Republican Party. "Before he focuses on her, he's got to focus on his base. And he doesn't have it yet.".......

.

.

He's seen as too liberal for his party's base and too conservative for independent voters who want to end the war in Iraq.

His speech before the influential Conservative Political Action Conference will show whether he can start to mend his relationship with the conservative activists .....

Each of the remaining GOP presidential candidates - in addition to President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney - will address its 6,000 attendees over the next three days.....

They think that his past stances on immigration are too liberal and that he has not supported Bush's tax cuts. It doesn't help that, as Keene puts it, McCain "blew off" last year's gathering.....

Also hurting McCain is that he doesn't have the backing of conservative talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh, whose program provides the soundtrack for the party's base. Limbaugh conceded on Wednesday's show that McCain appears to be well on his way to becoming the party's nominee. Limbaugh remains skeptical that McCain is sufficiently devoted to conservative principles. It's not just that McCain reaches out to Democrats, Limbaugh said, "it's that he's in league with them."

She’s closer to being black, female, and conservative than McCain would ever hope to be...

This is truly the strangest election.

It has to have been totally manipulated.

Strange in that they usually try to pander to the conservatives, at least a little, and they usually make some attempt to not be quite so obvious in their manipulation.

It's like the fix is so far in they don't even feel the need to pretend they are listening to the people.

Truer words have never been said. Needs to be in bold type.

We also have these people on FR that jump the threads telling us that McLame doesn't really need us and we will be marginalized.

Funny, if he doesn't need us then what are they doing trying to insult and browbeat us for votes?

He’s already sausaged us, the writer actually used assuage.

Freudian anagram, I guess.

McCain Seeks to Sausage Wary Conservatives

I'd have chosen a different word than "sausage", but one expressing the same general concept. Unfortunately.

Lloyd Bridges, RIP

Amen.

But thanks to Lloyd we have his two fine sons, one of whom later immortalized one of the greatest fictional characters of all time -- "The Big Lewbowski."

That's predestination. 8~)
