"You can't win the White House just by saying you're not Hillary Clinton," said Jon Fleischman, publisher of the conservative Web site Flashreport.org and a vice chair of the California Republican Party. "Before he focuses on her, he's got to focus on his base. And he doesn't have it yet.".......
.
.
He's seen as too liberal for his party's base and too conservative for independent voters who want to end the war in Iraq.
His speech before the influential Conservative Political Action Conference will show whether he can start to mend his relationship with the conservative activists .....
Each of the remaining GOP presidential candidates - in addition to President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney - will address its 6,000 attendees over the next three days.....
They think that his past stances on immigration are too liberal and that he has not supported Bush's tax cuts. It doesn't help that, as Keene puts it, McCain "blew off" last year's gathering.....
Also hurting McCain is that he doesn't have the backing of conservative talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh, whose program provides the soundtrack for the party's base. Limbaugh conceded on Wednesday's show that McCain appears to be well on his way to becoming the party's nominee. Limbaugh remains skeptical that McCain is sufficiently devoted to conservative principles. It's not just that McCain reaches out to Democrats, Limbaugh said, "it's that he's in league with them."

“Hey lady, did you order a pepperoni pizza? Well here’s the pizza...and here’s the pepperoni!”
- Cheech & Chong “Hey Margaret!”
It figures that this self-styled Brat of the Senate (and wurst representative of the GOP in the current campaign) was just casing the joint whenever he visited the Oval Office...
I'm stuned -- cut and paste is your friend...LOL! Your Freudian slip is showing!!
He has not picked a running mate. I am taking about today. You have not answered the question.
Is that popped squirrel sausage?
It true and denial is not going to change things.
Here’s my message back to you: Fall in line behind McCain now. Do what the RINOs want us to do.
Watch him move to the Left even further. Let him go into a Presidency ready to sign Kyoto or something similar, close Guantanamo, add 50 cents to a gallon of gas, re-introduce amnesty for illegal aliens and support funding for embryonic stem cell research.
Or, you hold your support until he make some promises he can keep to conservatives.
You are so bad!
Barney Frank gets sausaged... conservatives get even.
BOHICA. (Sausage)
Maybe not, but that's a really good start!
LOL - you got the intent right though.
Isn’t it funny how Freds condition was weighed as to whether he could serve?
No one has brought up McCains cancer and asked for a physicians opinion on McCains condition.
You turned a rather mundane BTSOOM post into a joyous wiener.
I think that a lot of the Hucksters are counting on just that. I even heard one of McCain’s campaign workers state that he was only aiming for one term. I don’t want Huckabee, anymore than I want McCain.
