McNamee gives vials, syringes, gauze pads to investigators (Roger Clemens DNA)

NEW YORK -- Brian McNamee gave federal prosecutors syringes and other physical evidence his lawyers say back the personal trainer's allegations of drug use by Roger Clemens, who returns to Capitol Hill on Thursday in hopes of rebutting the accusations.

...

His side turned over gauze pads and syringes they said had Clemens' blood to IRS Special Agent Jeff Novitzky in early January, a person familiar with the evidence said, speaking on condition of anonymity because McNamee's lawyers did not want to discuss details publicly. The syringes were used to inject Clemens with steroids and human growth hormone, the person said. A second person, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said the evidence was from 2000 and 2001.

I'm not a big fan of Clemens, but the idea that a man would hold blood-tainted syringes, vials, and gauze pads for eight years until now makes no sense at all. The Congress-funded Mitchell Report is less than two months old. Did he forget to mention it then? He gave up personal checks on a bunch of has-beens but kept supposed DNA evidence on the biggest name on the list? Add to that it's already been argued the evidence can be manufactured.

It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

The IRS is now investigating Americans for steroid use?

It's bizarre to say the least.

Right... eight years supposedly in this dudes kitchen drawer, and that will pass any chain of evidence muster? I doubt it. I always personally thought that Clemens was likely to have used steriods, but this smells more and more like a setup every time something new comes out.

Same questions I have. It sure does seem odd.

I also wonder what the tests can prove. McNamee could have had the syringes, vials, and gauze from the other non-steroid injections that Clemens admitted to...and then introduced the banned substances after the fact.

The tests may confirm the presence of Clemens DNA, I know that...but I wonder if they can prove definitively that the steroids were injected into him?

No, and scientific experts have reported that it’s nearly impossible to date steroids and HGH. I guess even the presence of both wouldn’t prove anything.

Clemens wasn’t winning anybody over with his charm, but like you said this just sounds like a setup. He goes to Congress to testify, then later in the day - “Oh, by the way, I found that shoebox with all the DNA evidence in it.”

I wonder if this guy is related to Lewinsky?

Given that Clemens is now suing McNamee for his testimony to the commission it was very prescient and wise of him to ‘blue dress’ Clemens.

Hey, Clemens was taking B-12 shots. He already said that. You know, because of Clemens getting poor nutrition. Stuff like that.

Oh, and Lidocaine. In his butt muscle. Because of..um...um...because of butt muscle strain? Yeah, that’s it. That’s the reason.

Oh, I don’t know. If I were in his position, I think it might have been nice to have a trump card in my back pocket.

This might have been his trump card. I don’t think it’s as far fetched as you believe.

If this is true, then I repeat:

Any American who has enough money to, should get their money out of the country, and have a jet to a safe haven on standby.

It's not about "justice" anymore - it's about the money, the 3rd Amendment, and insane OCD government agents with blank checkbooks.

Why would someone keep used and dirty syringes and gause pads for 7 years. And why did he not present this to Federal prosecutors when he testified against Clemens. Either he is withholding evidence or manufacturing it. Either way, McNamee is breaking the law.

His own blue dress in case Clemens decided to lie about it. If McNamee knew Clemens as well as he seems to have, he probably figured it would happen.

The guy who gave Mitchell the checks was Kirk Radomski.

Only if he assumed that eight years later he was going to be in a jam. Did he keep the same items from other players he claims to have administered juice to?

Unless the syringes and pads have traces of steroids in/on them, they don’t mean anything.

Even if they do, it could have been added at any time.

Athletes get injections of all sorts all the time. The fact that a trainer has syringes and pads with Clemens’ DNA on them doesn’t mean much.

I never really had an opinion, but I'd say this. Clemens is no dummy. If he had used, all he has to do is keep his mouth shut, go home and count his many millions. He broke no law and no one can touch him.

The fact that he's willing to testify, under oath, that he didn't use tells me something.

I thought it did too with Rafael Palmeiro, but I've become more jaded.

Well, this is why it isn't so important who wins the Presidency - with the possible exception of Ron Paul, they are all members of the same team that invented and uses these kinds of tactics against American citizens.
