How can the Republican Party, with a huge base of conservatives, nominate a candidate who hates them and who they despise?

“How can the Republican Party, with a huge base of conservatives, nominate a candidate who hates them and who they despise?”

Hmmm, I’m a conservative and I don’t hate McCain. As for him despising me, I don’t believe he does, but even if he did, I don’t care. I don’t need my President to love me, feel my pain, care about people like me. I need my President to win the war, not raise my taxes, and appoint judges who know the proper and limited role of the government and judiciary. I believe McCain will do those things, I know the Democrats won’t.

Also I was for the immigration bill, I’m a realist and we’re not going to send 20 million people back, it’s just not happening.

And being a realist I know this answer will not satisfy you one bit.

“Also I was for the immigration bill”

Well that explains your love for the open borders traitor.

In 2000 California’s secretary of state *ADMITTED* that a *MILLION* votes in the presidential race were *NEVER* counted! For all we know Bush could have won the *POPULAR* vote if *ALL* the votes were counted.

That is total, complete bullshit. The Secretary of State never "admitted" that because it never happened. ALL of California's ballots were counted in 2000. They are ALWAYS counted, if for no other reason than all the down-ticket races which are also being decided. Unfortunately, when some people don't like the election results, they start spouting paranoid nonsense.

I just posted this on the California board, but thought I would repeat it here:
I just looked again at Tuesday’s presidential election results for California.

CD 42 now shows McCain leading by 63 votes, so Romney would be back to winning only 3 districts (21, 49, 52).
They have tallied 2,368,916 Republican votes from Tuesday.

HOWEVER, in perusing the SOS website, I found the tally (PDF) of votes yet to be counted. As of 1:10PM today, there are still 833,434 “Estimated Remaining” absentee and provisional ballots to be counted, including 96,689 from Orange County, 159,600 from San Diego, 53,000 from San Bernardino, etc.

The vote difference between Romney and McCain is LESS Than 3000 votes in more than 1/2 of the Congressional districts — 27 of 53 districts.

If many of these CDs turn to Romney by the time they are done counting, I think there will be some serious screaming.

No kidding! Damn SOS site showed a 100% count for all precincts on the 7th. I never thought to look further. Nice sleuthing!

I had the impression Romney never gave much thought to CA until the very last minute when there were indications he might pull delegates. Still, if they are mostly absentee, those votes were probably cast before his "surge."

I’ll post a summary of the current results and the yet-to-be-counted tally... I have it all in an excel file.

It’s hard to tell because the tally is by county yet the votes I’ve been tracking are by district. Still... it’s telling.

It’s easier to analyze them by just cuttin’ and pastin.

I ain’t skilled... just a numbers person. LOL.

Monterey shows zero, but they just reported today that they still have “nearly 24,000” to count.

http://thecalifornian.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080208/NEWS01/80208024/1002

Monterey County elections team has 24,000 ballots left to process

The Monterey County Elections Department reports it has nearly 24,000 vote by mail ballots yet to validate, a process that includes verifying the voter’s address and signature on the vote by mail ballot return envelope against the voter’s affidavit of registration.

The Department will begin opening envelopes and extracting voted absentee ballots on Monday. Ballots will be processed through the central count paper ballot tabulators commencing on Tuesday.

Anyone interested in observing the above processes may contact the Elections Department, at the number above.

The result of the February 5, 2008 Presidential Primary Election as reported by Monterey County Elections is available online at the Monterey County Elections Department’s Web site at www.montereycountyelections.us.

I'm not a big Michael Savage fan, but I heard him say yesterday that Democrats cast nearly 16 million votes on Super tuesday and that Republicans cast just a hair over half that many.

His conclusion was simply that CONSERVATIVE Republicans were so abjectly uninspired by the remaining field of candidates that they simply did not vote in huge numbers!!!

I myself was uninspired and only wanted the best shot at blocking MuckCain with Romney!!! (now if the winner take all CONgressional District thing was mis-counted, I'm gonna be really pist!!!)

I find Savage's idea believeable and quite possibly credible. His point was that conservative Talk Radio hosts WERE listened to and agreed with far more than the MSM/DBM wanted to admit after all.

What about the rest of you reading this???

"It’s the Terminator’s fault."

I'm so pleased to see you come right out and say that!!!

I wish more people could recognize not only this, but all the other creepy stuff that joker has done to CA that will really bungle the future even worse that Davis was doing!!!

Just like MuckCain, he thinks he knows better than any conservative and is only looking for love and affection from the MSM/DBM!!! It's a psychosis!!! But we'll do ALL the suffering!!!

I was inspired to vote against the initiatives and trying to convince myself to vote for Mitt. At noon, after watching the Huckabee/McCain collusion in West Virginia, I got all the inspiration I needed to vote FOR Mitt with enthusiasm. I was ticked! That said, I made this post this morning (modified slightly) showing that the enthusiasm was non-existent in California (although now I know that there are more votes to be counted):
California:

Eligible Voters in CA 22,948,059
Registered Voters 15,712,753

Registered Republicans
   as of Feb 5 5,229,425
who Voted on Feb 5 2,350,924
who Voted for J McCain Feb 5 985,900

On Feb 5
18.9% of Republicans voted for McCain
6.3% of Registered Voters voted for McCain
4.3% of Eligible Voters voted for McCain

81% of Republicans DID NOT VOTE for John McCain

More than 16 MILLION eligible voters in California DID NOT VOTE

More than 9 MILLION registered voters in California DID NOT VOTE
