What a joke. There is no correlation between the Brady scale and “gun crime”. By the Brady score card, Oklahoma and Kentucky should be like the wild west, scoring the lowest at only 2 points. But looking at the gun crime stats http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States_by_state and Oklahoma ranks 23 and Kentucky ranks 20.
Keep up the good work Ohio!
It wouldn't surprise me if it is the former case; the NRA has been hiring some pretty poor representatives in my opinion in the last few years, who have made a few comments to reporters that have not served the organization well. This could well be yet another case of an NRA representative fumbling the ball, or it could be another case where the reporter did not correctly report what the representative said.
I wonder if maybe the NRA is too big, and maybe that the NRA didn't know what the NRA - ILA had done?
If only all the states could get higher Brady scores like California, which ranks fourth in the gun country in gun homicide per capita.

Ohio allows bulk purchases of handguns? Without the ATF caring? Wow! Somebody give me the details! :)
Brainwashed kid...
It's a good question. It's also possible that the interview happened before the NRA-ILA press release, or that the reporter misstated this.
In general, I don't think there are so many national press releases from the ILA that all of our NRA press representatives couldn't easily keep up with them.
Asswipe. (McLame, not you!)
Thank you for clarifying that!! ;-)
I'm surprised they let this poster win. It sends the message that GOOD PEOPLE NEED GUNS BECAUSE BAD PEOPLE HAVE THEM
AZ - Scored 6, tied for 37th. Woo-hoo!
Anytime the Brady anti-rights pantywaists are unhappy, I’m happy.
Wait, you mean there are THIRTEEN states doing better than we are? How the heck can that be? I mean, no permit CCW in AK and VT, but other than that, who?
My fellow Kentuckians can finally feel good about coming in last place in something!
***Why does anyone care about a study which rates states best who suppress constitutional rights the most?***
When do facts matter to Liberals?
‘A Democrat that is considerably more pro-gun than Taft was.
The Ohio GOP is a disaster, and their corruption and incompetence prevented a conservative Governor from being elected, because all Strickland had to do was run against Taft, which wasn’t hard with his single digit approval ratings.’
The Ohio GOP is part of the Ford/Dole/McCain wing of the Republican Party.
Nuff said.
Ken Blackwell, an excellent candidate, lost badly following the Taft debacle. Im sure Taft had a lot to do with it, but it seemed that for his experience, education, and communication ability he should have done much better.
The major culprit were the host of republican candidates and their wars for the nomination. They were all including Blackwell flat broke after they fought each other so hard.
Im sure theres a lesson in there somewhere.
Yes, the lesson is the Ohio Country Club Republicans would rather be in the Minority than have somebody as Governor that wasn’t one of ‘them’.
Ken Blackwell.
Full agreement. The stats don’t lie, Sarah Brady does.
My state, Missouri scored a 4! That is before we removed getting a permit to buy a handgun.
